What are you doing today?

I was planning to do the same (same days and hours), but at the last minute decided to cash in some frequent flyer miles and fly instead. (SoCal to NorCal).

I went out to buy some Buffalo Trace Bourbon Cream, thank you Delta Airlines! It took three staff members at BevMo ten minutes to track down the case the system said they had (nothing on shelf). It was buried under two other cases on a hand cart at the back of the store.

Then TJ and Ralph’s for groceries; happy to see the Tuscan melons are in at TJ. I meant to buy tulips too but after the beautiful blooms at Pike Place last week, I passed; too small, too ordinary .

I guess I’ll go put some laundry in. It’s warm and sunny right now so I may sit outside. Although that usually makes the clouds appear - it is May Grey time, after all.

It has occurred to me that an amputation might be somewhere down the line. I think right now we are a long long way from there, with many things to do first. He’s always been an athlete – wrestling, football, lacrosse, soccer, rugby – and still plays tennis practically every day, so it would be devastating to him.

That is heavenly stuff. DIL bought a bottle at the BT distillery on our Kentucky bourbon trail tour last spring (far left of their haul below) after a few samples convinced her:

In the spirit of the thread, though, I picked up DH from the airport this afternoon after his trip to LA to see his folks. We stopped for dinner on the way home and enjoyed Manhattans.

I’m having breakfast today with my ladies’ group – we’ve been having breakfast every month for around 20 years now. I like some of them better than others. We’re the mothers of our children’s HS friends. Our children are now 34 - 37 years old, and four of us are now grandmothers.

Then I have to grocery shop. We’re having guests for dinner tomorrow: our wonderful contractor (he’s done work for us for around 14 years) and his husband. They are delightful people and I’m looking forward to it. The contractor was, in his former life, a chef, so feeding him dinner is a little intimidating. I plan to keep it simple.

Today I’m going to Oak Park for a once a year event called Wright Plus. This is the only day when people are allowed to go inside several
Frank Lloyd Wright designed houses. S and I are FLW nerds. We will be joined by 2 others one of whom is my college roommate. And one of the docents is a really great lady I went to high school with who has given me some inside tips! Looks like the weather will be good, I’m so excited!

I’m going to a plant sale that the local garden club in my town holds every year. I’m buying dahlias and am determined to keep them alive. I love them and they are the one plant that gives me trouble. Also, I’m sure there will be garden club folks at the sale who will be happy to give advice and help me figure out what I’m doing wrong. I have a big garden and enjoy working in it, but I never joined the local garden club. When I moved to my town (it’s small) one had to have two current members sponsor you in order to be part of the group, which I thought was ridiculous. I never joined but have a number of friends who are members and often invite me to the group’s educational meetings.

I cleaned my dishwasher filter for the first time in my life! Sort of proud of myself. It was really gross. Now the dishwasher is being cleaned by those tablets @abasket recommended the other day.

Before that, the cats got me up at oh dark thirty, even before I needed to be up for my workout. Ran on the trail preppy peppy for almost 45 minutes. That was the hardest and longest I’ve run in 2 months. Then finished with 20 min on the stairmonster. I was pretty tired so opted out of real lifting and just did a couple of sets of pull-ups and pushups to keep myself honest and some mobility/strength type stuff.

For the rest of the day, some light cleaning - and then hopefully a nap. Then to the big city to walk a little by a lake. It’s supposed to be icky hot - upper 80s so the walk won’t be long. Then Costco and dinner and back home. The annual festival is in town, so funnel cake is the planned dessert.

I hope they work for you! I just sometimes have to remind myself to use them but I have liked them.

I figure they can’t hurt!

Knowing what you have posted here about gardening and your success at home I think a garden club would be a perfect spot for you!

Just reading that exhausted me. I think I need a nap.

did errands with DH…trip to the landfill. I found the perfect 4 foot fake Christmas tree for a charity donation…cost $1. Perfect. Then we went and bought our hanging plants for outdoors. Time for some nice color.

Heard all about DHs Maine trip that ended yesterday. Whew!

Putting things together for our first trip out in the 5th wheel this year. Only 4 nights so we don’t have to bring the entire house, which is our usual modus operandi. I’m looking forward to good weather and some wine tasting in the sun.

I saw The Devil Wears Prada 2, which was more enjoyable than I expected.
There were many cameos who did don’t have lines, and crossed the screen so fast, I wasn’t sure. Naomi Campbell, for example. So look up the names before you go.

First time posting in I-don’t-know-how-long. This is as good a place to start as any! Woke extra-early (for me) after a decent night’s sleep. Spent a perfect late-spring morning doing just about my favorite thing (puttering in the yard as an excuse to just be out among all the life), knowing my daughter was inside, safe in her bed, sleeping off non-stop work. She arrived last night: she survived her first year of law school, with the next two summer internship plans (and presumably a post JD job) wrapped up and signed. It seems that the future of this small-town girl lies in mid- town Manhattan, at least for awhile. I never could have guessed this when I signed up for CC when she was a shy kid in middle school, nor when she broke down in tears the night before going off to college because she couldn’t imagine sleeping in a dorm. How things change! I will have two lovely weeks with her before she’s off to her summer working in a legal clinic.

Went to bed too late last night and slept later than usual so I was rushing this morning before I had to leave for work. I wanted to go right from work this evening for the two hr drive down to the beach, so I needed to pack everything. Fortunately I make this trip all the time so pretty much knew exactly what I needed. I also keep a travel bag packed with chargers, travel toiletries, etc so I don’t need to worry about that stuff, just weather appropriate clothes.

Anyway, I worked all day which was a bit of a bummer b/c the weather was amazing today!

I realized when I left work that I was left with a 1/4 tank of gas (I’ve been using dh’s car all week b/c D21 is home and she’s been driving mine, as has dh!). Grr, had to do a quick detour to Sam’s for gas and whoa, shocked at the gas prices as I haven’t gotten gas in nearly a month! Then annoyed b/c I noticed the gas prices were actually cheaper on my drive to the beach which is not usually the case. I was able to finish the audiobook I was listening to on my drive, and with about 45 mins left, I was suddenly so tired! Thankfully chewing on ice and then my mom calling me helped wake me up for the remainder of my ride.

Tomorrow’s weather looks like a nice beach day so we will spend some time at the beach but I have a lot of spring cleaning to catch up on so need to take care of that too. So much pollen on the porch. Blech!
