I cleaned this morning, and I’m currently (still) working on the very difficult puzzle we started New Year’s Eve. We just returned from a lovely walk … the temperature is a comfortable mid-30’s, and the snow is falling in huge flakes. It’s like a snow globe!
Started the day with light frost on the deck chairs but it ended up sunny and high 60’s. So we hung around the neighborhood - went down to Cabrillo National Monument to check out the Whale Watch Festival (we didn’t see any) then had Happy Hour at one of the hotels on Shelter Island overlooking the marina and Point Loma.
From the Visitor’s Center; Tijuana in the far distance. It was very clear!
Overlooking the Submarine Base and San Diego Bay; lots of boats out today.
’The Yacht America (replica of the ship for which the America’s Cup is named) in the foreground (great whale watching trips) and Coronado behind with the bridge and Hotel Del.
Shelter Island Marina with Point Loma behind.
Finishing a book, winding a warp for the loom, making pizza and watching the Eagles (hopefully) win! Go Birds!
It’s shortly after 10 AM here and I have done a grocery run, washed, dried, folded and put away a load of laundry. There is chili cooking in my crockpot as D, SIL and grands are coming here this afternoon to watch football. My yoga class is starting soon.
Happy Sunday everyone!
Massage today!
Driving back home after a weekend get away a couple hours from home where our daughters are. All 3 kids bought H MSU (Michigan state) hockey vs OSU tickets for his birthday. I sprung for hotel rooms for us and S/DIL. Part of the plans also included pizza and Packers football at one D’s house. Unfortunately all our teams lost! But we had great time - even H who is not a road tripper!
We will retrieve pup from a friend when we get home and then enjoy home for the rest of the day.
Going to the Goodman Theater for a script reading of the play “Feast “….. Free tickets. Should be fun.
Apparently, spend all day on the computer watching college football portal news! I had a workout this morning.
Well, I will multitask by watching UT women play LSU at 2. Should be a great game. Hoping we can stay undefeated, but it’ll be a tall task. But our men upsetting no. 13 Bama last night was amazing so I am staying positive.
This weekend went by too fast. Younger S/FDIL2 came for the weekend to attend a childhood friend’s engagement party. So we had Xmas #3. Xmas day we had both flown to FDIL2’s family home and decided to leave the larger sized presents for today. And that way I could keep up my tree longer.
So this morning I took it down while they kept me company. S carted it (3 pieces) the two flights to the attic for me and some of the other heavier boxes. I’m glad I did it while they were still here because I’m always so sad when they leave. Taking down the tree would have just make it a gazillion times worse. So instead I dyed my hair (long overdue) and vacuumed. Now we are doing the weekly Walmart trip. It was a really really nice weekend.
I went to a rally for peace and justice. Now DGD, almost 4, is playing with the kaleidoscope gears on my floor. I am feeling tired and just enjoying watching her play.
I’m just staying home and being lazy because I have no Facebook memories for today and I don’t want to break a streak.
Undecorating the tree and taking it outside to be planted eventually!
Walked the dogs followed by a lazy morning, trip to the grocery, then watched the Bills game. It got even windier and extremely cold!
Spa day.
Finally took down our Christmas tree, cleaned up the mess of needles left behind, rearranged family furniture back to normal, and removed my outdoor Christmas lights and garland. Happy to finally have the house back to normal but will miss the ambiance the tree lights provided in my family room.
Ordered some last minute items from Amazon that D20 needs - leaving Tuesday to study abroad in Rome!
Caught up on laundry.
Chilling now for a few moments before starting to make dinner. D20 has requested a few meals before she leaves. Tonight we are having pasta w/pumpkin and sausage sauce and spinach salad.
D & I went to Costco and replenished pantry with a few things plus bought some poke, fresh fruit, guacamole in 2 oz containers, plus picked up her contacts & my Rx sunglasses. My Rx glasses are still en route, tho ordered together.
We got the ornaments off the tree and I untangled all the lights. DH dragged the tree out to the woods, where it will decompose - one advantage of living in the woods in Maine.
I went to a Zoom seminar of the Reconnection Club, for parents of estranged adult children. It was very helpful. The woman who runs it has a whole section on the website devoted to meditation and other calming techniques, which I obviously need. I also learned that we’re fortunate our son wants to talk to us. I didn’t hear one other parent who had ANY contact with their child.
Well, one woman got a letter from her daughter just before Christmas, but it reiterated how horrible she was and that there would continue to be no contact.
We sat in the hot tub for awhile. Our dog’s radio collar broke months ago, and he finally figured out it wasn’t working and escaped the other day. DH thought the two dogs would be fine outside while we were in the tub. I didn’t agree. Guess who was right? BOTH dogs ran through the invisible fence - the younger one probably thought it was safe when the older one ran out. Fortunately, DH can whistle loudly, and they came back quickly. Sigh. Now we have to pay a few hundred dollars for a new collar.
Now I’m going to work, and then walk 40 minutes on the treadmill, per my physical therapist’s instructions.
Spent the morning at my mom’s while she was at church organizing her entire pantry to use the OTD bins and wall rack I gave her for Christmas. Unfortunately, I did not take any “before” pics (too disturbing).
Will you come to my house please?
