What are you doing today?

That is seriously terrible! I always ask if they can’t call me even 15 min in advance before they come. I can get home from work in that time. Don’t most people have cell phones now?! That stinks. I’m sorry. Crossing fingers it’s sooner vs later.

A much better today (so far) today. Workout was fine. I ran our dishwasher yesterday, and it smells MUCH better! Yay! And we are getting a new garbage disposal this afternoon. Ours died on Monday. I am at work today and had a project kickoff meeting that went fine. Nothing else major on tap for the afternoon. Hopefully it will be quiet. Today is also the last day of hellish weather. I can make it…

Still nothing from FedEx, but Walmart replied that they are refunding us the cost of both dumbbells. And if it does wind up getting delivered, we can return and be refunded for the extra one. Go Walmart. Pooh on FedEx.

I got up B&E for my annual. OW! She was a little scrape happy. In good news, she doesn’t think the occasional pain I’m feeling is a hernia or anything. She thinks it’s muscular.

Started laundry and about to work out.

Ds2 will pop in midafternoon because the studio where he is working has bad wifi and he needs to get some regular work down. I’m so glad that the studio where he is staying is only 10 minutes from our house. Then he’ll come back here to sleep tonight before flying out super early in the morning. Womp womp. So little time with him, but we’ll see him in late June so I’m happy.

And tonight is game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Go, Spurs, Go!

Today we went to Roskilde and heard a lovely 45 minutes organ rehearsal in the chapel. We also went to a museum there which was a bit anticlimactic.

The elaborate sarcophogi were interesting, even though not our thing.

We also went to the viking museum, where they were able to restore portions of 5 viking boats that were intentionally sunk 600 years ago or so, to prevent enemies from invading.

Just a few nights ago, we went out and I was shivering. Yesterday it was 90 here and right now it’s 94. In Maine! I love this state, but there is no spring. It always goes straight from winter to summer. Straight from flannel sheets to cotton; straight from heater to AC. And yes, it makes me VERY grouchy. Of course, tomorrow the forecast is for a high temp of 60, so I’ll survive.

Got up to the cat complaining about her food bowl being empty. After breakfast–errands. Stopped at a bakery to get turnovers for grandkids’ breakfast tomorrow, then to Target to return socks I’d bought for my twin grand daughters. (Child size medium, but they were big enough to fit me!). Then stopped at Safeway to get tapioca so I can bake a peach pie next week. While I was Safeway, I also got some crab cakes and almond paste. (Watched s streaming epsiode of Milk Street earlier this week and I want to make an Apfelkuchen.)

While at Safeway, I also bought a watermelon. I saw them at Harris Teeter yesterday when I was grocery shopping, but didn’t get one because we’re going to the beach over Memorial Day weekend and wasn’t sure what the plans for food are. When I went back to get one after supper, they were all gone. Watermelons also all sold out at Target when I checked there this morning.

I just finished a pre-op tele-appointment with my surgeon. Surgery set for 13 days from now.

In a few minutes I’ll be leaving to go pick up the twins from school so they’ll be home in time to head to swim lessons at 4:15.

GS got sick at school and SIL brought him home just after 12 noon. So he’s sleeping upstairs. I’ll watch him while Dad takes the girls to swimming.

Now I’ve just got to figure out what to make for dinner tonight. A southwestern taco salad maybe? Use the leftover salad from last night’s dinner with some corn and black beans and maybe some taco-spiced plant-based fake chicken strips. Add tortilla chips and lime cilantro vinaigrette or BBQ ranch dressing? The adults will eat it, but the kids–probably not.

@4kids4us

which phone carrier? I’m always afraid I’m going to get trapped into a contract I’ll regret!

UPDATE: Well, turns out ds2 was using the Airbnb’s wifi and not the good “house” wifi so now he has good wifi and isn’t popping in this afternoon after all. BOOOOO!

But I’m glad for him, because one of his favorite artists is at the studio this afternoon and I know he is trying hard not to fangirl. lol I told him to get a picture with him, but he rarely does get pics with the famous people he meets because he doesn’t want to be “that guy.”

I’m also spending some time before the game researching cataract and glaucoma surgeries as my second consult is tomorrow. I tried to watch a video and … just no. Sometimes, ignorance really is bliss!

My D worked at a Starbucks in the Nashville area - she met some of her favorite artists, and all were wonderful. Like your S, she never made a big deal out of it. But I’m guessing both of them have had conversations in their minds!

Yes, Nashville is big on leave the stars alone. I think he will regret not getting pics with people to whom he has access as a function of work. He has a group pic, for instance, with Dolly Parton, but he’s too … whatever .. to ask for one alone even though others in the group did!

@Mom22039 Verizon. We have the Unlimited Welcome plan which is $30/mth but if we switched to Unlimited Ultimate for $55/mth, it includes International data/calls/texting. When my daughter left to study abroad, it made more sense to switch her plan and pay $25 more per month than to get a local SIM card which would cost about the same and she’d have to reload every month. She also needed access to her phone number for things that required 2-step verification. I made sure that we would be able to switch back to our cheaper plan.

So when we went to visit last month, I changed mine and dh’s plans also. We were traveling in the middle of the billing cycle so I knew I could change back and only have to pay for one month. Except I almost forgot to switch back in time!

Today was my birthday! I don’t like to make a big deal out of it. I had to work  but we didn’t have much going on so not a big deal.

D21 brought me lunch and then ate with me - we have a nice patio area so we sat outside.

I had a good dinner at home with D21, S25 and dh. Normally we go out but it’s Commissioning Week at the Naval Academy so our town is full of tourists this week. IYKYK.

Had nice phone calls from my OOT kids and my siblings/parents.

My most favorite gift was a Nutcracker D21 bought in Germany. I have a small collection I display at Christmas. I was surprised she actually thought to get me one! She bought it during her Spring Break, lugged it from Germany to Poland and the Czech Republic and back to Rome all while traveling on trains and buses, then by plane back to Rome. The box is pretty big - she was worried RyanAir wouldn’t let her take it on the plane back to Rome as it was sticking out of her tote :joy:.

All in all, a good day even tho I had to work!

My son and his family were supposed to fly in today. Their flight was canceled – no reason given, of course. So they now have a flight tomorrow, and they’ll arrive at 9:00 AM. It does give me more time to do the stuff I needed to do.

I am 11 days post-surgery for a total knee replacement. What I am doing today is the same thing I’ve done every day since, which is wondering how in the world patients ever opt to have a second knee replaced. This has been the most miserable experience I have ever had, but I’m hoping that in another month or so I will begin to reap the rewards.

Tomorrow, we are catching trains to Hans Christenson Anderson house & museum as well as to see Bluetooth Runes & Museum.

Today we went to Rosenborg Castle & the botanical gardens adjoining it. We also went to another castle and saw the inspiration for Fabrege eggs. We also went to a hardware store as our friend’s samsonite suitcase had malfunctioned and he needed new screws, epoxy and a matching screwdriver.

These was the silliest thing out of the two castles we saw—a wetting, farting chair—really!

Cursing fricken FedEx. Just got an email stating that I hadn’t replied to their email about need more information. Not only did I reply on Monday, I received a robo email on Monday saying they received my email!!! So now here we are on Thursday, still no closer to having any kind of delivery date for something that should have been here last Wednesday. SMH. Truthfully, since H has the other DB, I don’t REALLY care… except I want it resolved…

Other than that - a normal, albeit very slow day at work. Eating our at Firehouse Subs tonight. Still hot too - rain should move in later.

Heading back from our camping trip. We got as much as possible packed away last night so we could get a relatively early start and miss the worst of the traffic.

Drank some good wine, bought more, and I hope the family Memorial Day wine weekend uses some of what’s in our fridge and other storage.

We made it back, unpacked, and I’m now enjoying happy hour with an old fashioned and a book on the deck.

Today I heated the pool for the first time this season. It’s big and deep so I wait until the sun has done part of the work and hopefully it won’t cool off too much at night now. Then ten minutes of slow laps (my stamina needs work) and some mild water aerobics.

So if anyone is heading to San Diego this summer, DM me and pack a suit!

Edit to add there is a hot tub and a waterfall. And Zoe the zebra.

Today, in preparation for the grandkids arrival, I:
Stopped at the Police Station and had them check that the car seats are installed properly
Stopped at the library to get a museum pass for our outing to NYC on Saturday
Stopped at the carpet cleaners to pick up a rug that was ready
Did a huge grocery shopping
Cleaned out the fridge so there was enough room to put the new stuff in it
Made a brisket for dinner tomorrow night
Listened to S2 as he bitched about getting his fifth manager in four years
Took the dog to the woods and walked about 2.5 miles
Ran a load of laundry (always laundry!!!)

I’m tired.
