It’s pouring rain today. I actually might make soup of some kind.
And I’m going to cull the things in my closet and reorganize…again.

I’m sitting in the car heading toward where younger S/FIL2 are getting married next year. We offered to take them to lunch before they head to a friend’s place in a different town to ask them to be a groomsman. It’s a 2:30+ drive each way for us, but lunch with the kids is worth that. What else are we going to do sitting at home?
Before we left, I vacuumed and mopped and cleaned the last bathroom. No workout on Sundays. We should be back in time for dinner. H still has to be at work tomorrow at 4:30am and I’ll go with him => early bedtime for us
The sermon this morning was on why it’s important to keep the Sabbath - God intended it for our rest.
Now I have to work the rest of the day. ![]()
So after my stomach flu yesterday, DIL also has it, and S isn’t feeling too great. I feel guilty.
Walked with neighbor this morning but only about 1.9 miles before rain hit so we punted and went to breakfast! Came home and did some strength exercises until rain stopped and raked branches and leaves from front yard - ended up with 9873 steps by noon! Relaxing and reading CC for a while with “Air Crash Investigations” entertaining me in the background!
A 2 mile walk, some scrolling and reading, and now happy hour. Two of my sisters canceled
, but my other sis and her H, and my daughter’s BF came over, so we’re still having fun.
We put flags out at the cemetery of Jewish war veterans and holocaust survivors. We do this for every memorial and veterans day.
I’m exhausted. First thing this morning was an art fair. Next was the local Sea center with all the grandkids and their parents. Lunch out with one of the grandkids and her parents. Home after lunch so granddaughter could nap before everyone plus my sister came over for a bbq and a swim. We celebrated one of my kids birthday. Having all my kids plus their kids together fills my heart. The young cousins running around together was the best.
The out of town kids go home tomorrow. ![]()
I’m singing the National Anthem at our town Memorial Day event…in the chilly rain.
Then I’m coming home and taking a hot shower…since I will be soaking wet. Need to figure out which boots to wear as it is in grass and will be muddy (it’s been raining here for a few days).
H’s cousin joined us at our cottage this weekend, so we’ll be hanging with him again today. We’ve been playing cribbage, so I am sure today will include a few more games. The guys will probably fish off the dock for awhile - the marina hasn’t put our boat lift in yet, unfortunately (
). The weather is supposed to be spectacular, so we’ll probably stay longer than we should - I’m sure we’ll be cursing traffic later today. Other than the drive home, it promises to be an excellent day.
Landed in Boston at 4:48 AM, had breakfast with friends in Lynnfield, and just crossed over the Piscataqua bridge into Maine for the summer. It’s a gorgeous foggy, drizzly morning. Life is good.

Got up at 3:10 to go to the gym with H, as he has to work. So I ran, stair climbed, lifted, stretched, and then I came back home, plopped my butt in my recliner and did a lot of German learning, then closed my eyes, but didn’t really sleep.
Now I’m eating some breakfast and I may not get out of the recliner for awhile. It’s dark and raining. I’m all cozy in my sweats under 2 blankets in a recliner watching sports center. Life is good.
Later I’ll play piano for awhile and go for a walk. Once H gets home, I’ll take a real nap and then I don’t know what until dinner. I should go through the wedding photos and pick some to make a book. But there are 1100 of them! It’s a bit overwhelming
I’m just trying to survive a few days until a/c fixed. 90*. I put 2 fans next to bed, and dog slept in front on one. I’m so fortunate to have a pool
I woke up to heavy fog this morning. Dh left early to play in a golf match. It’s pretty humid out and tho the fog burned off, it is very overcast. I was going to plant something today, but when I went out to do it earlier, it was raining. Seems to be raining a little bit off and on.
I spent the morning adding some recipes into my Paprika app and then made a grocery list for this week. Also finished up some household chores like laundry, vacuuming, etc.
Later this afternoon we are going over to my parents’ house. My dad turns 91 tomorrow! We will celebrate today with my brother’s family. My niece is visiting from Los Angeles so it will be nice to see her.
We are bringing an appetizer - some sort of bruschetta recipe with stracciatella. Dh made it for a dinner party we went to recently and it was so good we are taking again today.
I’m home following an unexpected family medical emergency. I spent the morning in the yard planting annuals and tidying up. I’m so happy I came home to sunshine. I need to do some chores after lunch but I’m planning a long walk on the beach too. It’s been chilly at night so I don’t expect it to be too crowded but if its, I’ll divert to the path.
H is still in the yard installing more bunny fencing - it’s crazy the tiny openings that they can squeeze through!
I’m planning on posting on this thread every day going forward, no matter how routine and boring the day. I need routine and boring right now!
Walked to yoga and back. It is an absolutely gorgeous day here. Where I live ( large city, northern Midwest) things really come alive on Memorial Day! The free concerts at the bandshell by the lake near my house start today and I am meeting D, SIL and grands there for the earlier one.
The other thing I did today was walk around my yard and take some pictures. A few weeks ago I hired a really nice guy to trim the shrubs and spread mulch in my yard and I need him back. I’m somewhat over my head with this yard business and I realize I need help.
S, DIL and GKs are visiting one of S’s best friends from HS and his family, so the house is finally quiet. I love them all very very much, but – on my gosh, are they noisy. DH and I are just not used to it. I’m considering going to the gym, as I haven’t been since Wednesday. They leave tomorrow. The weather has been absolutely horrible – in the low 50s with a ton of rain – but today is slightly nicer. Only dreary and overcast but all the way up to 64! Feels like a heat wave!
I was going to swim again but it looks like Saturday was our only sunny day of the holiday weekend. We will cook put steaks tonight and I’ll make biscuits for strawberry shortcake.
Otherwise a normal boring day.
We are at the gym on bikes. DH probably shouldn’t be doing this, but he sees the ortho tomorrow and I pick my battles. But interesting, my husband is a veteran and today is memorial Day so people wish him a “happy Memorial Day.” He just says thank you but it’s not a happy occasion. It’s a somber occasion. Officially since he’s obviously alive it doesn’t apply to him directly. Other than simply saying thank you are there any other appropriate response? What should people say as an acknowledgment of the holiday? Have a meaningful day?
An uneventful Memorial Day. Definitely thinking of our veterans today.
We’ve had a perfectly terrible spring. Today is gorgeous. It’s finally going to be feeling like summer. Straight from winter to summer. The trees are blooming late but they are so beautiful! It’s very pretty out.
I went to the trail to walk. My husband mowed the grass. Lots of traffic on the roads as people are traveling home from the long weekend. We will stay cozy in our house today and enjoy the sunshine.
I was trying to message with one of our kids about renting a place for Christmas. Feels so difficult to get everyone on board. The place we thought about staying (Hershey PA) is strangely expensive and there aren’t a ton of rentals that accept dogs. We are pivoting to other areas. Means more looking and trying to get the other kid to get on board.
It will be nice to find a place and have that settled. Christmas seems so far away but daughter says that these things need to be sorted out way ahead of time.
