@RightCoaster , I loved the Violent Femmes!
@whidbeyite2002 Your musical taste and mine are in synch.
Can’t pick top 5 songs. Too hard.
Top 5 artists, also challenging but would include:
David Byrne - both with the Talking Heads and without.
The Clash
Queen
Ben Howard
Bill Withers whose Lovely Day would probably be amongst my favorite songs. You can’t be sad listening to that song.
@mathmom Love that Richard Thompson song!

Johnny Cash
Taylor Swift

Songs:
Hurt - 9 Inch Nails

Great idea for a thread! I love music. I have an entire playlist of “hair band” music just for treadmill running. Can’t believe I just admitted to that!

Der Kommisar (Falco)
Don’t Change a Thing (INXS),
Save it for Later (English Beat),
Time After Time (Cyndi Lauper)
Deadman’s Party (Oingo Boingo)
Violent Femmes. and Depeche Mode
Add It Up and Blister in the Sun - two of my favorite Violent Femmes songs. Oasis is great too.
@thumper1, Moody Blues song Question! Another great group to see in concert.
Black - Pearl Jam
Hemorrhage - Fuel
Lightning Crashes - Live
Those are fantastic !! @firstwavemom !
Glad the stones finally made it here.
Warren zevon. Send lawyers guns and money
Steve Miller’s the joker.
Dire straits.
Thin lizzy. Top three Irish bands of all time. Not counting the Clancy brothers and chieftains etc. lol
Girl from impanema by anyone always gets me singing.
Janis Joplin and the doors have been in and off my lists over the years too.
Amy Winehouse’s cover of Carole King’s Will you still love me tomorrow.
@privatebanker Jobim, Getz & Gilberto are favorite artists I’m a big bossa nova fan.
I do like Girl from Ipanema but actually prefer Aguas de Marco (look up the David Byrne version on YouTube), Desafinado, and Corcovado.
@doschicos. Thanks for the heads up. I will download them. That’s what I had mind would happen with this thread and to get to know my friends a little better.
I love the gypsy kings. Are they popular among the serious Latin music aficionados?
There are just too many! This thread has reminded me of so much music and good memories from different stages of my life. INXS, Stiff Little Fingers, English Beat, Tragically Hip, The Go-Go’s, The Bangles, Prince, Fleetwood Mac, Amy Winehouse. Blondie. The list could go on forever!
Does anyone else fondly recall the “stepping out” era joe Jackson. He was awesome in concert.

@Rivet2000 interesting factoid regarding Marshall tucker band. Can’t you see. Lead singer and guitarist was 26 when it hit. He had served two tours in Vietnam. Purple Heart and bronze star recipient. You hear the experience in his voice and in his face.
@JBSeattle i love every group on your list. Top contenders for me as well.
Rolling Stones. Sympathy for the devil is a masterpiece .
@privatebanker I have to closet listen to Joe Jackson. H went to concert in college - I guess Joe was trying to record live and was kinda rude to the audience for making noise. His story, not mine.
I think Steppin Out was theme to one of my high school dances. Love “Look Sharp” too
