Just got accepted into Georgia Southern!

Congratulations!

Is it affordable?
So, now, you know you’re going to college!
I would still apply to a couple more colleges (Georgia Southern’s 4-year graduation rate is dismal, less than 20%… meaning 80% students don’t get their degree in 4 years, so if you get into a college with a better graduation rate it may be better for you. After all, I doubt you intend to spend 6 years in college…)

Haha yes it’s affordable, and if I end up attending I will transfer to UGA.

denied to UCF
gonna try USF and maybe FIU/FAU

Sorry… but I don’t think it was a surprise, that was the whole premise for this thread.
See if UNF and UWF still accept applications. Plus all the previously mentioned for football: Marshall, Penn State Harrisburg…

They do, however I’m going to apply to FAU and USF and if I’m shut out I will attend GA Southern

okay, good luck!
USF is likely to be tough, so you might want to add one more (which will provide a better experience than GASouthern - many students have trouble graduating so you’d want a school that’s a bit more supportive of its students graduating.) I can look up graduation rates for other schools if you wish.
And thank you for posting your results, it’s very considerate of you toward those who helped, but also very useful for the hundreds people who read your thread, and the many more who will read it in the upcoming months.

I’d really like to go in FL, I guess that makes GA Southern a safety. I’m hoping to transfer to FSU (My Father’s Alma Mater) after my freshman year. My dad has refused to pay for Arizona State, saying its unnecessary and that he wont waste money so I can party more often. If you could give me a couple FL Colleges that have a good environment where I could transfer to FSU after a year it would be great!

Tranferring will depend on your having a 3.0, which is quite hard to achieve in college. So, you’ll have to buckle down and work hard right away - things go very fast in college (you cover the equivalent of 1 year in high school… in 4 months; so not pushing yourself for 3 weeks in college is like “relaxing” for almost an entire quarter in HS).

Apply widely so that you have many choices:
UNF, UWF, FAU, FIU, Florida Gulf Coast, Eckerd, Flagler, Lynn, Barry, St Thomas, St Leo.
If several accept you, rejoice, celebrate… and pick your favorite!

Your father is right: there’s no reason why you should go to ASU when you have so many good colleges in Florida.

thank you so much!

Just an update for you guys, I’ve applied to 6 schools:
Arizona State (In Review)
Florida State (Cancelled)
UCF (Rejected)
USF (In Review)
FAU (In Review)
Ga Southern (Accepted)

hope this helps and gives future people details on where they can look to go if in the 3.0-3.3 GPA and 1600’s SAT Score. Will keep posting updates.

Just got accepted into Arizona State & FAU!

Set to attend FAU in the fall, hope this post helped somebody!!!

Congratulations!
Can you explain how you chose it over your other choices?

Yes I can, my father and I drove through the campus and it had a nice feel and it was relatively new, not too mention it’s in beautiful south Florida. I have had some drug problems in the past with marijuana and xanax, so my father thought it would be best if I go somewhere with a smaller feel, yet large population. It also had the best football team (behind Arizona State) and I feel that I will be successful. Thank you all so much for your help.

Just got accepted into USF (Summer)
