Hi guys, I’m kind of confused on what college to attend so I’m asking you guys for help.

First off, money is not an object, I come from a wealthy family, although I prefer to go somewhere in GA (my current state) or FL.

Secondly, I am a minority.

I have a 3.214 weighted GPA, With a moderately difficult course rigor. (2 Pre AP Classes, 3 Accelerated Courses, 4 Honors Courses, 5 AP Courses) I’ve also passed both of the AP exams I’ve taken (Lang and World) both 3’s.

SAT: 1600 First Time, 1630 Second, 1660 Super Score (1140 M+CR)

EC: 4 Years Drama Club, 4 Years Varsity Wrestling (1 YR Captain), 1 year French Club, 1 Year FBLA, 1 Year Robotics Team, Worked at local movie theater, Volunteered at local elementary school and Nursing Home.

So far I’ve applied to UCF.

Any suggestions would be extremely helpful!!!

USF, Georgia Southern, Georgia St, UGA and FSU are reaches

Maybe FIU or FAU. Or, you could try some smaller colleges such as Flagler, Eckerd, etc.

UGA and FSU’s deadline is passed. I’m not sure if I read that right, I really don’t think USF, Ga Southern or GSU are reaches! And I’d like to go to a big school with a D1 Program. Thanks!

Are you a senior?
You’d need about 3.8 W/1750 for USF to be a match, so yes unfortunately as of now, it’s a reach.
UWF would be a match. UNF would be a high match. Georgia Southern would be another match, but their 4-year graduation rate is dismal.
Can you look into Eckerd (reach), Flagler (match), Florida Southern (match) just to avoid being shut out or forced to attend a community college (which is not a horrible fate, but with some strategizing something you can avoid)? Your odds would be high at these schools. Right now with UCF being slightly unlikely*, you risk being shut out if you’re a senior
For a big, D1 school, look into FAU, FIU?
(of course, it depends what D1 sport you mean?)

Most D1 football universities are going to be flagships, so that they’re the most selective to get into. Look into University of Alabama Birmingham or UA Huntsville.
Could you be interested in Marshall? Good (famous) football team. Not in GA, in WV, but a match for your stats.

Further North, you may have a shot at Christopher Newport, Old Dominion, Radford, or Longwood in Virginia.
Another possibility that combines a good degree and football: Penn State Harrisburg (2 years, then you go to Main Campus and get a “Penn State” degree - but you cheer on the Penn State football team) - in the same system, Penn State Altoona, Penn State Beaver, Penn State Williamsport (the last one is mostly technology).

UCF stats: to be a match, you’d need a 3.8 weighted GPA and 1800-1850 SAT.

Yes I am a senior! Yes and I was referring to football. Thank you that was very helpful. What about any schools in California? And what do you think about Ole Miss?

yes you have a shot at Ole Miss.
However the CA colleges that would admit you don’t have big football programs.
USD (Catholic university in San Diego) has a Div I program but it’d be a reach academically. The fact you’re full pay may help you.

I say this sheepishly, I’d really like to go to a party school, I’d like to have a great college experience. Do you think I could get into any of the schools in California?

There are parties on every college campus in the US.
A party school is a college where it’s “more” than the usual - where most students party every night of the week.
Considering your GPA and SAT scores, I really think you should stick to the regular type of colleges, with parties Thursday through Saturday and studying the rest of the time - one downside of party schools is that many students flunk out. You don’t want to be in the middle of temptation and be one of them.
And three days of wild parties should satisfy your longing, right?

Hahah I’d just like to be able to attend a school where I can actually root on my team.

Can you chance me for the following?
Ga Southern
UNF
Ole Miss
West Virginia
Arizona State

Look into the three UAlabama (why not even try for UA Tuscaloosa, it’s definitely a great DI school - a reach, but you never know, after all you applied to USf and UCF!..), Ole Miss, USD, Penn State Harrisburg/Beaver/Altoona, UWF, UNF, FAU, FIU, Marshall, Old Domininon, Christopher Newport.
Hurry though - they’ve already sent out admission decisions so places in the class of 2018 are shrinking even as we speak!
Fortunately, some of these applications are very quick.
Start now and come back to report when you’re done with 3 of them
:)

I meant to say that UGA and FSU are reaches, but I did not separate them from the others.

Officially applied to:
UCF
GA Southern
Arizona State

Arizona State UCF and Ole Miss have football! I will be sure to let you know! Thanks.

Yes, in fact they all won bowl games this past season. Ole Miss is an up-and-coming program in the SEC, while UCF won the Orange Bowl and finished in the Top 10.

I know all of those have football but applying to only 3-4 colleges seems risky to me :). Then again the average is 3-4 even on CC most students apply to 8-12 :). I wouldn’t want you to be shut out in April May, that’s all.

Okay I will surely aplly to UNF and UWF
