I was randomly thinking about this today, is anyone else curious at all what benefits men actually receive by getting married? It’s obvious what advantages women get (free money, getting to stay at home instead of working).
But what do men get? There are no…‘physical’ advantages since he can’t do it with anyone other than his wife, and he can’t force his wife to. If the relationship falls he apart, he loses 50% of his wealth, while the woman GAINS 50%.
So, uh…am I missing something?

a firm grasp of reality in post-WWII America?

You, sir, are an idiot.

Prenups aren’t too rare, so your last point is null…alongside all of your other ones.

Still have yet to hear what men get…

Your entire question is based on the idea that men always earn more than women.

There are things called working females and stay at home dads. I know several of them…so fayul sexism.

(They get a word that is six in Latin…it starts with a s and ends with a x)

Sandwiches whenever you want

…and other delicious goodies the wife cooks up, clean clothes, clean place up, creating babies (and taking care of them), etc.

I think the more accurate question is, what do women get out of marriage? More often than not women are waiting to marry or even chucking marriage altogether. according to the time news magazine, more women kept their jobs than men through the recession. At the peak in 2000, some 77 percent of women between 25 and 54 were in the workforce.

Here’s the new POst-Soviet Era Picture
Lo siento, if you haven’t got the memo.

Mom works just as much as dad. Mom goes home does most of the chores and helping with kids and dad still gets bedroom benefits. Dad spens most of the ti,e sitting on the couch watching NFL and getting free sandwiches. Dad loses his job. Mom keeps hers. She hold the family together and begins to wonder what the whole point of dad is in the equation.

The new question : what do women get out of marraige? Less and less, which is why less and less women are getting married.

Men aren’t needed for food/shelter or even to have a baby.

Why do women need men? You may ask yourself that. You won’t enjoy the answer.

Because judging by your first post, you would dismiss anything that could be reasonably offered. So why bother?

^^truth.

I don’t think marriage should be about “getting something”. It should be about wanting to spend the rest of your life with a soul mate. And it may suck at times, but they’re the person you’d rather be with at the end of the day than not be with.

CC’s idea of marriage scares me.

@AUGirl
Don’t worry we’re all heartless people who only care about grades and school. Our only soul mate is school.

Because life isn’t about things; it’s about people and your relationships with them. The sooner you realize that abstract materialism is pointless, the sooner you will find happiness.

Or the sooner you’ll descend into complete existential despair.

And he be trollin’

TBCH, once you realize there’s nothing, you will realize that there is something, and you will pursue it. Our society demonizes people who don’t believe in a material world, but the pain of existential despair is a powerful motivator.
