Lots of mustard and sauerkraut. Soft bun. Hot dog grilled or fried.
But you do kinda have to ignore some of the ingredients.
For me, the bun must be the New England style top-sliced buns, buttered and grilled. All beef, natural casing dog.
Has anyone mentioned the smell of gasoline? Now and then at the gas pump i’ll enjoy a long sniff. (i’ve no idea if it’s widely reviled…)
Speaking of hot dogs, there is this: http://www.japadog.com/menu_En.html
I’ll definitely give you that.
Thanks for the japadog tip, ucbalumnus!
Yes, top sliced buns!
An that deep whiff of gasoline costs brain cells, no?
The taste of water from my dad’s WWII army canteen. Metallic. The smell of the inside of a duck when being cleaned.
Like duck guts??
I love the fact that we all love some weird stuff!
My favorite deli meats used to be liverwurst and chicken loaf. It’s not easy to find chicken loaf in the supermarkets any more.
I like fruitcake (but only from Collin Street Bakery in TX), apples with salt, deviled eggs made with mayo and relish, the sound of rain on a tin roof, community colleges, and wildflowers (even though my husband’s mom insists on calling them weeds and persists in yanking them out when she thinks I’m not looking).
Really loud thunder.
I love loud thunder as well.
And the smell of diesel exhaust in the winter. My parent used to take me on the train to the BIG CITY (Chicago) during Christmas to look at the decorated store windows at Marshall Fields. I still associate the wiff of diesel exhaust in the winter with that magical time.
Folgers instant coffee. Mr. will not drink anything else for breakfast, and I got into the habit of drinking it. Making just one type of beverage is a time-saver. On weekends, I fire up my Nespresso.
I like red pepper on my pizza. Depending on the kind of pizza I will eat it with a knife and fork. Other times I will fold it and bite into it.
I just finished a bowl of popcorn with specks of sriracha sauce on it.
I have a bunch of sauces that I just add to whatever I am having and it gives it that zing.
(Cholula, peri peri, tamarind sauce, mint or coriander/cilantro sauce, lemon/lime)
I don’t like bland food. The food doesn’t have to be super spicy but just have a bit of enhanced flavor.
Rain
Being awake between 5 and 7 AM.
Hey, @marvin – I already said that!! Depending on your timezone, we could Skype! (Although frankly the appeal of those hours is that no one else is around.)
@doschicos, yes, duck guts. I used to watch my dad clean ducks after he came home from hunting.
