All that stuff happens at every HS. School populations and reputations turn over after a few years, so even if you avoid a school known for “faster” kids, by the time your kid goes to some other school, that other school will have gotten a new crop of kids.
But if you think you have a kid who is attracted to the rule-breaking crowd, then maybe boarding school isn’t the best option at 14. Or, lots of conversations with your kids about what they may encounter and how to handle situations.
