What is your "adult beverage" of choice during quarantine?

A FB friend’s husband had concocted some sort of adult beverage made with Tito’s vodka, and she posted a photo. I have no idea what else was in this cocktail, but the presentation was hysterical.

It was in a tiki cup and a white napkin was tied under the “eyes” to make it look like a mask. There were two garnishes. One was a melon ball that had cloves poked in it (to look like the virus), and the other was a marshmallow that had been cut to look like a roll of toilet paper slightly unrolled. Very creative!

as a sidebar to this beverage thread, there is a picture with images representing 73 different cocktails…has been fun to share with a group during this SIP and have everyone try to find and name them. For example, there is a Screwdriver in the picture. Some are quite obvious, some require careful search and some I’ve never heard of…which after researching the recipes, I may want to try!
Google “Drink Up” painting with 73 cocktails. Also on Reddit as Awesome Cocktail poster…

@Lassie3 A well made Vodka Gimlet straight up is my kryptonite come spring…when I’m not driving.

Glad I’m not the only one drinking! ?

I’ll drink to that!!

Misery loves company!

My drink of choice

Gin and tonic
Fresh squeezed pink grapefruit and vodka
Peach bellini bottled crap from Trader Joe’s which is so ridiculously girly and bad and I just love it. So sue me.

Definitely drinking more than usual…
–Wine (Chardonnay and Cabernet) with dinner a couple of times a week
–Rum and coke on taco Tuesday LOL
–Occasional evening drink like Amaretto, Baileys, Harveys Bristol Cream
–When feeling kind of desperate I break out the Jack Daniels

As we shelter in place, the drink of choice depends on time of day

Breakfast - mimosa

Lunch - wine

Cocktail hour - gin martini, (when the gin runs out, Manhattans with very special sweet vermouth I’ve been saving up)

Dinner - wine

Evening chilling & streaming - whiskey (husband is sort of a connoisseur)

Not all everyday, but I’m drinking smaller and smaller servings so as to have more variety during the day. Very decadent and elegant, at least in my imagination.

I wish I could join @alh for cocktails…and conversation!

That would be my dream. Please drop by.

We have a thread for this:

Going to pull up my stool over there.

Today we walked to our local beer store and filled up 2 backpacks full of beer.

Rogues Newport Daze is super-tasty

You win the award for Most Determined Drinker of Quarantine 2020.

We were given a bottle of Bailey’s Irish Cream at Christmas. H doesn’t drink anything other than beer and wine, and Bailey’s isn’t a favorite of mine, so I was planning to pass it along. We’ll know I’m getting desperate if I open it! Fortunately we had a full wine rack when we started sheltering in place!

@GKUnion – I just want to point out that I picked up a 300 dollar order for wine and beer out our local outlet’s curbside pickup. I realize it’s not backpacks, but I still want to throw my hat into the Most Determined Drinker contest. We had to check the site a whole lot of times to get an open slot, if that helps!

@yauponredux Bailey’s on the rocks is pretty tasty. Crack that bottle open.

Before all of this, I was a (maybe) two beers per month sort of person.

But I won’t blame the pandemic, really. I blame the halcyon days of January, naively dreaming and plotting and planning my June trip to Italy. Gazing at photos of those immaculate rows of Tuscan vines, well, what’s a person to do but break out a bottle?

I have a tiny, tiny wineglass. I savor a glass of red or white (OK, sometimes two) each night with Netflix or a book. If the world gets back to normal, re-booking that flight will be the first thing I’ll do.

My mom is 89 years old, quite healthy, and has a sip of Bailey’s Irish Cream before bed every night. It’s hilarious to see her eyes light up when she describes as “GOES DOWN LIKE SILK!!!”

@GKUnion , there’s a great Irish pub just outside of Boston called The Burren. Great pub food, is a major venue for Celtic music, and of course, Guinness on draft! Looking forward to my nest trip there, whenever that may be.

On a trip to Ireland 3 yrs ago, we probably ate lunch or dinner at 7-8 Irish pubs all over the country, and the Guinness at any of them puts Guinness here in the states to shame.

I’m moving in with @alh

I know the Burren well…I love Davis Sq. They have a great pint.

Do you remember the names of the pubs? What towns in Ireland?

If you want pints in the Boston area that rival those of pubs in the old country try Mr. Dooley’s or The Druid.
