What? Nobody watches Homeland?

I thought tonight was good. I hate season finales.

Well the twitterverse is a little ticked.
I don’t understand why shows now end in the middle of winter.
Although Joe Morton kicked butt in the Scandal finale.

I liked it a lot. It was time for Brody to go.

Does anyone else think that Saul and his wife might adopt Carrie’s baby?

I had not thought of that. It’s an interesting plot line. The tension between Carrie and Saul would be far more interesting if they “shared” a child.

Well, this was the spoiler I read yesterday:

I’d say they ended it with more than Brody seemingly trapped in Tehran! So as I was watching it, I kept expecting a last minute rescue, because according to the leaks, he was trapped, not dead!

It was more of a rope-hanger that left him in Iran. I am not sure what the next season will be like based on the finale but I sure hope there is a next season.

Wow. DH & I were mesmerized. That’s an episode that will linger, I think. But now in the light of day: do we know if the show is indeed coming back? Seems like so many ends were tied up that they should almost just end the show now. Because otherwise, it’s almost like starting over. I hesitate to go google it because I know I’ll get all sucked in instead of doing the work I really should be doing right now.

Yes, it was signed on for a new season.

Yes, Showtime announced in October that there would a fourth season.

[?Homeland? and ?Masters of Sex? Renewed by Showtime for 2014 | Showbiz411](“Homeland” and “Masters of Sex” Renewed by Showtime for 2014 | Showbiz411)

teriwtt: the spoiler you read was for the “penultimate episode” which was last week’s episode, not the finale. So Brody was seemingly trapped in Tehran, in that office at the end of last week.

Thought the finale was a huge letdown and no where near redeemed the season like they promised, especially after all the Dana drama, brody’s absence, saying that all that would be worth it because of the last two episodes. Last week’s episode was thrilling and built it up so much but this week’s was just…awful. Even though they were trying to capture that emotional, sombre tone for Brody’s exit, it failed in its execution. Not sure if there’s a reason to watch next season.

Have to say, I am so happy- I just got ShowtimeAnytime and can catch up past the S3 premiere. Even on my cell. And Sho was half price for a year. Originally Season 1 was free on my on-demand (during S2, I think) then I had to do the Netflix thing. I wasn’t able to get Homeland on Hulu, without the Sho subscription.

tiennyx3, you expressed my sentiments exactly. So glad I’m not alone.

After reading some of this thread I went out and rented the entire first season for $3. It’s interesting so far.

I actually dozed off during the finale. The problem is that the only character I care anything about is Saul. I never liked the Brody character and Carrie has become almost comedic in her crying, overly emotional, irrational reactions to everything. She would not be allowed within a mile of Langley after everything that has happened. I probably won’t be around for Season 4.

I barely hung in this season but I agree with you guys that I won’t be back for season 4. What a letdown.

I read an article that talked about two characters not returning as regulars next season…Brody’s wife and his daughter. Which makes me think that they’re gonna pull Saul back in somehow. The baby connection would be interesting.

She’ll have the baby and cry a lot because she loves it so much and then decide she can’t move to Turkey. Saul will be the baby’s godfather and she’ll name it Redemption.

Next season, they can bring several new characters in and start another story line. Viewership will increase if the newcomers are interesting as well as attractive.

<<<spoiler alert="">>> </spoiler>

The Carrie-Brody storyline had certainly run its course, but I think the show will not be the same without Damian Lewis. Being that they never intended to keep Brody on past the suicide bombing, I guess the writers had a problem in dealing with it once they did.

Despite the supposed shock ending, this episode came across as almost anticlimactic. The hanging happened almost as a matter of course and everything that happened after that and four months later, intentionally underplayed. Ironically, I think that was the big surprise in this season finale.
