What? Nobody watches Homeland?

Then do not start GoT.

How about something nice on The Disney Channel?

I don’t think I’m crazy about any happy shows. Hmmm.Curb Your Enthusiasm is my kind of happy.

How about Malcolm in the Middle reruns? Back when Bryan Cranston was a bumbling fool instead of a meth king?

SL, I used to watch ICarly on Nickelodeon. :)

Curb Your Enthusiasm is one of my favorite all time shows.

Big Bang Theory.

PS. Aspergers in funnier on tv than in real life.

My S thinks Eastbound & Down is hilarious. My other S liked Arrested Development. My D loves Workaholics and Parks and Recreation.

I think Episodes is hysterical and that new HBO show about nursing home life is funny. I’m sure not everyone would agree though.

Just to get this thread back to homeland…

Consolation: Not quite sure what you disagree with. Your reaction is EXACTLY how i feel. And i feel many things from this episode. One of those is that I can’t believe how they seemingly just ‘glossed’ over brody’s death; yes it was meant to be emotional and sombre rather than dramatic and thriller like but wow did they do it poorly. By glossing over brody’s death i mean in how they portrayed his death and how they portrayed the aftermath of his death. For carrie to go back all friendly with Saul and Lockhart, after she had witnessed a public execution of, in Javidi’s words, “perhaps the only thing she cares about”, is just so wrong and out of character, even though she is a careerist. The depth and devastation was just not shown to the extent that it deserved and the relationship deserved.

Also, if one of the central relationships of this show is carrie and saul, why did they not show the mistrust and tension that has built between them from the beginning of the season. How Carrie just patted Saul on the back just didn’t seem right.

I also completely disagree with the writers that brody had to be out. I know the writers were trying to make a point about the real CIA in showing that Mission and Institution comes above all else, and that they would sacrifice their own without reservation. Well, yes CIA does do that at times when necessary, but in this case, it was not absolutely necessary. Lockhard did not have to take over the operation at that time and they would have gotten out of Iran if it weren’t for the writers wanting to show that they ‘know’ how the real world works.

I tried watching it but could not make it through the first ten minutes. It’s truly horrible. HBO is good for Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire. After that the quality drops off pretty quickly.

What Alex Gansa has to say: [Homeland Creator: Why Brody Had to Die For the Show to Live](<a href=“‘Homeland’ Creator: Why Brody Had to Die for the Show to Live, and What’s Next in Season 4”>‘Homeland’ Creator: Why Brody Had to Die for the Show to Live, and What’s Next in Season 4)

Booklady - thanks for sharing that article. Interesting to see what’s working in the minds of the creator and his team.

tienny, I guess we agree more than I thought from your earlier post. I do think that the actual death scene was emotionally wrenching and sombre. The aftermath is what I have a problem with. That just isn’t Carrie. That’s why I think that underneath her apparently bland exterior, Carrie is plotting revenge. I don’t think she is just going to put a star on the wall and walk away.

I do think that Quinn has a lot of potential as a character interacting with Carrie. I figure that she will ask for him to be assigned to her staff.

I don’t know about Saul. He knows that Abraham’s character betrayed Brody. Does he REALLY trust him? Does he really think he’s “loyal”? Loyal to whom?

The series has been great so far. I’m assuming that they have the creative wherewithal to do this.

Random thoughts:

“Two old schools coming up”: Adar’s the one who hired Quinn to actually follow Saul last season (?), so I imagine there is respect, but not trust. And wasn’t he also the one who ordered Carrie’s shooting?

If they really wanted to p*ss off the twitterverse, they should have ended the season with a cliff hanger of Brody walking to the gallows.

The 4 month later epilogue was definitely anti-climactic. It seemed like a way to tie the season to current events, giving Saul the credit for Iran’s recent nuclear arms deal.

Overall, I liked the episode and, as I mentioned upthread, thought the cockroach had to go. Definitely did feel like a series finale. As far as the season, I think it started weak, but ended strong. I’ll give it another go next season.

Uh-oh, I haven’t watched the rest of the Homeland season and think I just spoiled myself, but I’ll try to forget the last few messages.

My favorite recent TV or netflix picks have been Top of the Lake, Boardwalk Empire, I do like the new series Getting On so far, Masters of Sex, The Fall (that’s amazing) and Ja’mie, Private School Girl (though that takes a particular sense of humor. I don’t know, I just find it hilarious).

Masters of Sex was better than I thought it would be.

I finally got to watch the last episode. I didn’t hate it, but I certainly didn’t love it either. It’s sad that they sacrificed Brody (both the new CIA director and the show’s directors). It might have been more interesting to have him survive, not in an easy, heroic way, but in a messy, complicated way. It’s certainly a bit easier to have him die, leaving them open to many new story lines with Carrie, but it feels cowardly.

The best part of the episode was Javadi’s speech and Carrie’s father’s impassioned outburst. Have Grandpa go to Istanbul! And bring along Peter Quinn but wake him up a bit more.

Well, I just finished- and do we really know they killed him off, no matter what anyone is saying? Maybe he was just wired up and is going to be hiding in Turkey. Or maybe I watched too many soaps over the years and she’ll run into some red-haired guy who claims to be his twin brother. Or who has amnesia. Or both.

lookingforward - the show’s producers have stated that they killed him off, that it was time for the character to be done. I, too, initially kept replaying the death scene in my mind, trying to figure out if there was a soap opera element possibility, but then I read several days later that he was indeed killed off.

Why do people watch Homeland?

This person watches because of Mandy Patinkin.

I have so often asked the same question about football…
