Delia’s anyone?

I feel like the only one who’s never been to New York.

It’s a great place, if you have a trust fund or a 7 figure salary. Otherwise… eh, not so much.

I’ve never been to New York, either.

Me neither. It seems too busy and congested for my liking.

Jeez, where do you people get money to buy all these expensive clothes? I’ve been working for the past 4 years and can still barely make enough to pay tuition.

Oh golly YES I remember that place, I only went there twice but then it closed
I literally forgot about it until I read your post.
That’s such bs - do you think most New Yorkers live like the Sex and the City gals? NYC (especially down here in the Village) is filled with quirky little shops that are inexpensive and have original items - it’s not like the average suburban mall that’s filled with girls wearing identical overpriced shirts with Hollister Babe plastered across their chests. Avoid congested midtown filled with tourists and their oversized Saks bags, there’s tons of cheap fun places that you won’t find in the little tourist pamphlets. There’s thousands of college students here ya know ; )
You’d be surprised; even on this thread, people have admitted buying expensive brands at GoodWill for dirt cheap. Personally I spring for end-of-the-season sales and that way I don’t go broke. Generally most college kids don’t dress up either; I see most people in jeans and T’s.

My school has a bus that goes up there every weekend so I guess I’ll have to see for myself.

I guess my plato’s closet is in a really wealthy area by a really nice mall so maybe that’s why i always find so much good stuff

This girl I knew worked at Plato’s Closet. She’d get her outfits from there. They were really cute.

My Plato’s closet kind of sucks. I can never find anything I like there, I get the impression the only people who bring their clothes to our shop are younger than 14 or older than 40, or a stripper. My sister gets the skankiest things from there.

I wasn’t aware that it was a chain, I may have to go in search of different ones now.

Cost of living in NYC is very high compared to just about anywhere else in the US. It also has fairly high tax rates. Comparatively speaking, I could do a lot more with my money in, say, Houston instead of NYC.

I only buy clothing on discount - generally 30% or more. I also have a full ride scholarship to cover my tuition.

Agreed, Tappmann. I guess I wouldn’t mind living in like Queens or something, since at least you’d have ready access to the lively parts of town (unlike DC where if you’re middle class or lower, you’ve either gotta dodge bullets every day or live like an hour out of the city without traffic). But the taxes are horrendous and make me never wanna live there.

Similar problem with Baltimore City… they have a much higher property tax rate than any other part of Maryland, even the parts that are WAY nicer and safer and better.

^ Agreed about Baltimore. I live in Ellicott City (just got ranked #2 in best places to live :D) so we’re like a half hour outside of the city and I definitely prefer that than living in city limits.

Also, I hate H&M. Their shirts seem really, really short :/

So… are leggings ok to wear to college or not? I saw a bit of that argument at the beginning, but I need a straight answer

the consensus was that guys like them and girls are jealous

They are okay to wear. Some feel that they should just not be worn as pants. You can wear them however you want, there will be girls wearing them in every way you can think of. lol.

On a separate note, I have a really short torso so maybe I should check out H&M.

I don’t think there should be any set “fashion” trend in college. Come on. We’re adults. So as long as we aren’t indecently exposing ourselves, who gives?

^ The business world is more judgmental. Which is what I’m getting into after college hopefully.

but in the business world you really just need to wear a suit.
