What other buttons besides "Like" and "Helpful"?

I agree with DonnaL, while here in the parent cafe we could all handle the dislike button, turning it loose on the wider community might lead to negative, even abusive, use.
I might hit “dislike” when some parent posts that they are having to deal with a difficult situation " My mother is back in the hospital". That is showing support.
Having a general dislike button opens up the forum to kids disliking other’s stats, questions, etc.
While I kind of cringe, the idea of a “hugs” button really is good.

A “world’s tiniest violin” button.
A “take your Ayn Rand crap and flush it” button.
A fishing pole button.

How about a “standing by you” button that shows several people together? This could be support for good or tough situations?

  1. Crap shoot button
  2. Dice
  3. Chance me threads

just no full cup and lid imoges. Or maybe …

Besides the hug idea I thought this was meant to be a tongue in cheek thread…

  1. Get over it
  2. A bridge
  3. "My teacher gave me a 95 on this paper! That's basically an F-minus!"

An AYFGM button. But more CC appropriate is a REALLY?! button.

What is AYFGM?

A “sarcasm” button and a "snarky " button .

How about a BS button?

@thumper1

And the icon design?

The icon can be a toilet.

Or a pic of a cousin’s uncle’s friend’s coworker.

1- How about a Google search button?
2- The Google image as the icon.
3- For those questions easily answered by a search that anyone could do it they took the time.

^@bookmom7 Yes!!

yes, “dislike” is ambiguous. When I mentioned it, it would be like in response to “my mother is back in the hospital”. But obviously, it can also be used negatively towards a poster.
They shouldn’t be judgemental or negative, IMO.

  1. What's Your Point?
  2. A Question Mark
  3. This would be used similarly to the 'Quit Bragging' button for posts where a comment is made that barely touches on the topic, but instead enables the poster to describe some unrelated fact about themselves or their kid.

Sometimes I want a “thread killer” button for those who derail and/or those whose comments seem like a dog who won’t let go of the bone. However, I know this is one of those situations where what I want wouldn’t ultimately be good for me

1.You’re off Topic button
2.A derailed train
3.For posters who, after answering OP’s question (and sometimes not doing so), take the thread completely off topic.
