Facebook is adding 5 new response buttons to click on in addition to the “Like” button. This got me thinking about what other buttons might be useful to have in the CC forum besides “Like” and “Helpful”.

when the poster says the family can scrape together/borrow/beg/steal enough money for the 40k gap for the first year of the much, much pricier “dream school”, and then the money will somehow come together for the subsequent 3 years.
Maybe change the “like” button to an “upvote” button with an accomapanying “downvote” option (like on reddit). Much more diplomatic than having a “dislike” button.
It seems like we should be able to be helpful with comments, not so judgmental with buttons. If we can’t give a useful comment, perhaps we just scroll by, ignore, rather than judging with a button.
I strongly dislike and downvote the idea of a dislike or downvote button. I’ve never seen a website that uses such buttons that doesn’t quickly become a place where people gladly take advantage of the opportunity to be gratuitously nasty and generally unpleasant.
