What Reality Show Would You Be Willing To Compete On?

Reality shows are the game shows of yesterday I think. As kids our “fun” tv watching was game shows - Match Game, the one where they had to guess your occupation, etc. Now “fun” can be watching reality shows!

No need to participate in this thread if you’re a reality show hater. :slight_smile:

BUT if you enjoy the occasional reality show, what one could you imagine yourself appearing on??? Either now or when you were a younger age?

Survivor? Big Brother? American Idol? Amazing Race? The Bachelor?! :wink: There are many to choose from!

I think I’d go with Amazing Race. Love the show, love the clues and challenges (would HATE the height challenges though!) They did a family edition or two, which our family loved watching. So I’d say, I’d be willing to be on AR- Family Edition.

Play along!

Naked and Afraid.

Just kidding.

I used to love those plastic surgery shows, like The Swan. I like the idea of transformation.

Worst season ever!!!

That said, I would do The Amazing Race with skibro. The travel, the challenges. Sadly, he’s not as enthusiastic about the idea.

I’d go with Stacy and Clinton for a makeover.

The Amazing Race - I wouldn’t hesitate, and in fact my adult D & I fantasize about it a LOT, and when we’re hiking, snorkeling, ziplining, etc., she or I will say “Oh, this would totally be your challenge” or something along those lines - even when I’m at the gym, I find myself pep-talking to myself, stuff like, “imagine you’ve got to hoist yourself”;

Project Runway - I’m a real amateur at fashion design and sewing (more amateur than my design skills), but I would love an opportunity to step up and try my hand.

Design on a Dime or Trading Spaces type show…

I am a reality show fan - usually watch with my 15 yo. If I were younger I’d try to get on Survivor. It is a definite life goal for my S.
I watch other reality shows, but I am too embarrassed to list them here!

“Real Housewives of My Neighborhood” - if my only roll was an occasional headshot of me rolling my eyes.

Amazing Race, but I’m not sure who I’d team up with. DH and I would likely bicker, but we know and appreciate each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Altho DH is strong, he’s strong for a 64 yo. Also he likes heights less than I do.
S1 loves puzzles, is athletic, but he and I would likely butt heads. He’s also the only family member who doesn’t know how to drive a stick, so I’d have to drive, but one of my strengths is navigating. So maybe S2 is the compromise that would work.

I wish there was a CC -based reality show. “Survival: College Confidential”, anyone?? :wink:

It’s not a competition but… Jersey Shore anyone? I never understood why the show was so popular. I couldn’t stand it. But it would be nice to party, drink, be obnoxious and get popular and rich!!

Maybe not. I would hate myself.

@cameo43 Oooooh. It would be ugly! (If it’s a competition, judges would be Lori Loughlin? Amy Chua?)

I’m a Jeff Probst/Survivor fan. I just don’t want to ever have to eat bugs and slugs.

My family always tells me that I wouldn’t even survive the first vote, because of the social game. And I don’t think I can lie, cheat and steal.

Amazing Race with my DH.

I’d also love to be on one of the makeover shows too :slight_smile:

Amazing race had a challenge of putting together an IKEA desk. We might have killed one another before that was through.

@HiToWaMom - I watched every season of Jersey Shore. I didn’t watch the JWoww and Snooki spin-off however- I do have some standards.

@Lizardly

In my case, it would be ‘Afraid to be Naked’!

@Leigh22

Why be embarrassed? These day,s I only watch two reality shows: RHOBH and Married at First Sight.
I stopped watching Survivor a few seasons ago, and American Idol lost it’s appeal to me when Simon Cowell grew up!
I also used to watch The Apprentice with he who shall not be named…

For me, I’d like to compete in:

Survivor - Senior Citizen Edition

A Real, Real Housewife of…’

I have watched every survivor episode since it began (the only TV show I watch religiously). I would be a terrible contestant - I am too old with too many aches and pains, don’t function well if I don’t get quality sleep, can’t swim at all (actually have a fear of the water), have never camped in my life, hate bugs and creepy crawlies, and won’t eat anything gross. Not sure about my social game - the “moms” don’t seem to do well. However, I think I am great at puzzles (but so do half the people on the show only to be proved wrong!)

I’m still laughing at Naked and Afraid in post #1! LOL. You’d have to be a masochist to want to go on that show. It’s like Survivor on steroids with no big prize money.

Another vote for Amazing Race here. What a great experience that would be with the right partner. With the wrong one, it might be pretty miserable. The way some go for each other’s throats on there in times of stress makes me cringe.

@kiddie - I agree, but as a super fan, you must remember all of those contestants who were horrible at the game in the beginning but then blossomed. You could be one of those!
My weakness would definitely be bugs ( they love me). I am also not a strategist. And why is it that the “moms” get the boot, but not the older men, who by the way no one refers to as “dads”? And don’t we all have moms?! Why no love?

If you want a great laugh google the SNL Naked and Afraid spoof with Peter Dinklage and Leslie Jones!

@Leigh22 Seriously? I saw the show because it was on in the living room. Never actively seeked. Bunch of orangely tanned young adults being loud and obnoxious… I felt old. I was mostly impressed with Pauly D’s upside down trapezoid hair.

I thought Jersey Shore was pretty bad enough… Can you whisper to me?
