What should I do with a missing LOR?

I had a technical staff member (ex-boss) at my university write me a LOR for another school already.

Last week I asked him to edit the existing LOR for another school via email and he never responded. I’ve also called him twice and left a voice message but never responded. What should I do? I already sent in a cover letter and my application stating who my recommenders would be.

maybe ur writer is extremely busy. if the deadline is close, i recommend you to drop by his office.

Rolling admissions, but I would like to get it in ASAP. And I’m currently working 100 miles away so I can’t just drop by…

I doubt he’s that busy, I’ve worked for him for two years and we’re pretty close. If it was toward the end of the quarter I would understand.

Hey Cap,

I had the same problem but it was for a fellowship. I worked with this professor for two years, we even published a paper together. I asked him for a letter and he was like yeah sure. He never followed through. I found another recommender. Maybe you can try the same? Do you have someone else you could ask? If this current guy comes through at the end, an extra letter wont hurt.

Best of luck!

I guess if he still doesn’t respond I would have to do that. Problem is that I put his name on the cover letter as a LOR and the he already has a LOR done for me (as opposed to asking somebody new and starting from scratch).
