I’ve been waiting for the song I wanted to include to pop into my head and unfortunately it just did - Proud Mary. It was a very popular song at weddings when I was young. I got very tired of rolling rolling rolling.

What A Wonderful World was mentioned. The great Louis Armstrong penned and sang it. He was a trumpet player at heart, but he lender his raspy voice and guttural vibrato from time to time. I did an impromptu vid while in san Juan a handful of years ago. I hope this is okay. I love you.

Eye of the Tiger has lots of lovely minor chords and 7s and a very underrated singer commanding the stage. This is not boring 1:4/5 Pink Floyd music. one would need to understand music to understand the former part of that statement, and an ear for vocal talent to understand the latter.)
Survivor also made “The Search is Over”, which was a good song and showed the lead’s talents. And anyone who was 10 at the tine loves Burning Heart, the big song sprung from Rocky IV. We were at cold war with the USSR commies so it just hit a bit harder because of that. 40 years later and out of that diffuse smoke, it’s still a good song. hehe
there is really no use fighting over music. I just wanted to stand up a bit for Survivor and Louis. For me… i can sing Armstrong because it’s in my range. The Survivor dude (RIP) had a note or two higher than I do, and i hate singing in falsetto because i lose half of my vibrato and control. Love and hugs — we’re talking about my first love, and i’ll argue but still appreciate anyone willing to talk about music. We need to keep music alive. Pop is dead now — no new melodies.
There are maybe 1-2 songs put out now, annually, that would have been hits in the 80s, when music was good. I liked Better Now by Post Malone and Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding. I think that those are great songs which would have been big hits in any era.Do there are caveats.

Totally agree with this. We all like what we like, dislike what we don’t.
To me, Wonderful World is a beautiful song of hope sung through a bittersweet lens, and no one does it better than Armstrong. I danced with our son to that “raspy voice and guttural vibrato” at his wedding, two of the most precious minutes of my life. I can’t hear the opening bars without grabbing my heart as I’ll never forget my son walking over to my chair and holding out his hand to me that night. I saw and heard and felt what love looked like in those notes.

My husband’s parenting style is to be always supportive, encouraging, and positive with our kids. (Which makes me always the bad guy, but that’s off topic). Anyway, so he was always jamming along to all the songs that liked when they were at home. On a long drive he and I took about two years ago, Fireflies by Owl City (one of their little kid favorites) came on the radio. He suddenly exclaimed “I HATE OWL CITY!” I died laughing. He just couldn’t keep that bottled up any longer!
