lol. But the “ kids these days” also seem to know the words to songs, even “complicated” ones without the benefit of radio. I was at a wedding recently and the “ sing along” songs where the kids all danced to (sort of….these aren’t very dance-y so more like shouted while pantomiming the lyrics) included Eminem’s Lose Yourself, Mr Brightside (they were UMich kids so they did have the benefit of weekly sing alongside during football season to help learn that) and the TEN minute version of All too Well (done by the bridesmaids right before the very end of the nights last song which was ….. Love Story…. which was very cute as all the boys did “got down on one knee” part) Except for that last one I know, none of these are wedding-y lol

I have to say, we also bought 45’s (some of us remember those) and played them over and over and over…and over.
Another song I can’t stand to hear…Hot Cross Buns. Every time my kids learned a new instrument, this was the first song and my kids played multiple instruments.

This is too funny. I don’t mind most of the songs listed (and some I have never heard of), though I do mind the multiple ear worms forming while reading this thread. “Hot Cross Buns” reminded me that anything played on the recorder is an immediate desire to commit instrumenticide.

Yes…the playlists.. I love seeing all those Spotify wraps at the end of the year. But I’m also like “who could listen to The Weeknd that much” ( he’s on my do not like list)

I never get ear worms from songs I don’t like…only from those I do ( but they are still annoying) Forget whether it’s addictive in general, Tik Tok is mostly dangerous because it constantly exposes me to ear-worm generating parts of songs.

Other than that I generally love most types of music. That said, I routinely switch through channels searching for the song I consider the “best” one playing at the moment.

Me, too, @thumper1 and you reminded me that I’d never actually watched this. I remember reading that it was terrific, and now I understand.
My own most hated song has always been Puff the Magic Dragon.

Eye of the Tiger falls into the category of I just heard it too much. It was played at every Karate event my kids were involved in when they were little and I got tired of it
I absolutely adore “Wonderful World”
My brother sang it acapella at my parents 50th wedding anniversary party and my brother, sister and I sang it at my parents memorial service this past summer 
My H can identify any Phil Collin’s or Michael Bolton song in about 2 notes and switch the station before you can blink, lol

Our kids let us add songs to the “ no play” list. And choose 2 for the “ must” list. As well as a bunch of the string quartet songs for the reception. My must plays were Mr Brightside and I Don’t Care…which my kids think is ‘ cringe” but all the kids were SCREAMING them when they came on.
I asked for Somewhere Only We Know for the string quartet as well as Charlie XCX and Billie Eilish’s Guess…which made the people who figured out the song laugh. My kids picked a bunch of those types of songs for the string quartet where the guests were like “wait is that…. ABCDEFU,Take Me On, and Drivers License” ( surprisingly beautiful in the strings version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jsm1idMYsG8
