What song do you despise?

What I Am, Edie Brickell

What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what

Yuck. Generic strumming and whining and sort of singing with ridiculous lyrics

That was peak Sting . I liked the Police ok, but not a fan of solo Sting. All his solo stuff sounds the same, so just pick any of them and I don’t like it!

Yes. Philosophy is not “the talk on a cereal box.” It’s my daughter’s future major! And religion is not the smile on a dog.

She clearly is not aware of too many things. (but hey… at least she knows herself…)

No one was surprised that Somewhere Only We Know was beautiful. That Driver’s License was came as a big shock.

I make a distinction between songs I hated on first hearing (Summer Breeze) and songs I’m just sick of after hearing them constantly for fifty years, like Carol King or Billy Joel. I noticed on my drive to work today that I still turn Bridge over Troubled Water up when it comes on. So some songs can weather 50 years of exposure.

I couldn’t think of anything and then I saw this! :100: me too!

This is mine. It was the song played on our local radio station every single day at the same time - the time my radio alarm was set for! For like 6 months!

Interesting tidbit - she was Maya Rudolph’s, of SNL fame, mother.

Im surprised no one said this. I still have PTSD from standing in line at the Disney store hoping the Elsa dresses would come in.

If you listen carefully, at the end of the song you’ll hear Maya’s name softly repeated.

I once met a couple and their young daughter Maya. The parents knew the song but didn’t know the Maya part. I pulled out my phone, found the song, and played it, asking them to listen carefully to the ending.

All three were overjoyed.

Really ? No clue. I think the song was on one day, I googled her to learn about it and saw that.

I assumed it wasn’t common knowledge as Minnie died very young. Sorry if that was universally known…then by everyone but me!!!

I think Maya Rudolph talked about this once when the SNL Cast did a Mother’s Day tribute to their moms. Maya had on her stepmother who raised her but mentioned her mom who had died when she was very very young.
