One that falls into the overplayed category is Don’t you forget about me by Simple Minds. I think I liked it originally but it is so overplayed on classic rock stations.
That’s a sweet story about Minnie Riperton and Maya Rudolph but that song was a gut reaction, strong dislike since the first time I heard it.
When I was a camp counselor at a local day camp we had ONE 45 record (Joe Cocker’s You Can Leave Your Hat On.) that someone brought in. At our counselor’s meetings at night, we would play it probably 10 times every night for eight solid weeks. You’d think I would be sick of it. But I still like it.
Maybe it was written for Lilliputians. hehe
OK, my husband says the Chipmunks Christmas song…
But he LOVES the Mariah Carey Christmas son
We built this City by Jefferson Starship. Pretty much anything by KISS.
God Bless the USA—if I explained why, my post would disappear, let’s just leave it at that…..
I don’t know who hurt some of you … ![]()
I remember one radio station became semi famous on April Fool’s Day for playing Dead Skunk in the middle of the road over and over. They’d announce another song and then just play Dead Skunk. Announce another, Dead Skunk would play.
Anything by Alanis Morissette is another one of mine
The Skyrizi jingle.
MacArthur Park
I’ve always said that if the person who left the cake out in the rain had just been through the desert on a horse with no name, the problem of confectioneries and precipitation would have been avoided.
But Tina Turner…!
If only she had been at all those weddings, I might feel differently.
H and D also danced to this song at D’s wedding !
There are a lot of songs I dislike, but few I hate. I would put The Rolling Stones’ Brown Sugar in the hate category, though. Y’all, the lyrics are sooooooooooo bad.
Do you really want to hurt me?

Yes! Oh Gawd yes!
Santa Baby by Madonna! What was she thinking???
Here are a couple classics that often show up on various “greatest hits of whatever” lists:
House of the Rising Sun
Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers
I tend to dislike pop ballads in general, not sure why, but I have an almost visceral hatred for those two. I do like some other songs by those artists.
And speaking of pop ballads, two Christmas songs I utterly despise are White Christmas, and Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire. Can’t change the channel fast enough.
This Little Light of Mine, especially now that it’s imbedded with a PSA about a children’s hospital.
