How about that Baby Shark song. ‘Nuff said.

There is also a commercial for an anti-depression drug (I believe) that uses This Little Light of Mine, but at an annoyingly slow tempo, that frankly, sounds depressing…..
My husband loves Jethro Tull, but I could never get past Aqualung. What a horrible song!
OTOH I find The Rolling Stones fine despite their politically incorrect lyrics. I always took them as tongue in cheek exaggerations.
Oh they definitely were not tongue in cheek exaggerations. They behaved really horribly, in general, specifically to women, and Brian Jones was the worst, but Mick and Keith were also really bad about beating up their girlfriends, etc.
How on earth can you get past these lyrics?
Gold Coast slave ship bound for cotton fields
Sold in the market down in New Orleans
Scarred old slaver know he’s doin’ alright
Hear him whip the women, just around midnightBrown sugar, how come you taste so good?
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should, oh, whooDrums beatin’ cold, English blood runs hot
Lady of the house wonderin’ when it’s gonna stop
House boy knows that he’s doin’ alright
You should have heard him, just around midnightBrown sugar, how come you taste so good?
Brown sugar, just like a young girl should, yeahOh, get it on, brown sugar, how come you taste so good, baby?
Oh, got me thinkin’ about, the brown sugar
Just like a black girl should, yeahNow, I bet your mama was a tent show queen
And all her boyfriends were sweet 16
I’m no school boy, but I know what I like
You should have heard me, just around midnightBrown sugar, how come you taste so good, baby?
Oh, no, no, brown sugar, just like a young girl should, yeahI said, yeah, yeah, yeah, whoo!
How come you, how come you taste so good?
Yeah, yeah, yeah, whoo!
Just like a, just like a black girl should
Yeah, yeah, yeah, whoo!
Honestly because mostly I didn’t listen to the words. Yes I know in hindsight they are appalling.
American Pie. Played to death. It seemed like it was every other song.
And ear worm For the Longest Time- Billy Joel.
Any song by the group “ Bread”
We have this “goofy” rule in our car that if a Bread song or an REO Speedwagon song comes on, we are not allowed to change the station. I am not claiming to be a huge fan of either of those bands, but it’s just something that’s happened over time.
I shared with my daughter that I can remember laying on my bed in my room as a teenager and listening to Bread which in some ways was absolutely the sappy, sad-leaning music I despise! She was so curious about it, we were at a record store together and I found the same album for like $2. It’s hers now. ![]()
It would be nearly last on my list of anything I’d like to listen to now!
Back in grad school days, one of our labmates was a huge fan of grunge. Played his fav radio station non-stop. Another labmate was a fan of classic rock… you see where it is going. Then a third labmate, tired of the constant radio control wars, found an MC Hammer CD at a consignment shop down the Ave and gladly paid 50 cents for it. So when the two would start squabbling over the radio control, he’d pop that CD in his player and crank up the volume! Problem solved. ![]()
We had the same rule with Beatle songs!
Another song I kind of despise is Bruce Springsteen’s Pink Cadillac. My ex husband and I lived in the basement of a very wealthy guys house when we were young/during college. The house owner would invite the people at his favorite bar to his house when the bar closed, and he played that song MANY TIMES, VERY LOUDLY, at 3 in the morning. We didn’t live there long after that :).
I was listening to “The Bridge” on Sirius and just heard “ Muskrat Love”.
Enough said.
“Afternoon Delight”; always and forever despised.
Red Red Wine (UB40 version)
