Whatcha Cooking? - Comfort Food Edition

Funny, I just printed to a pdf and emailed to my youngest son. He loves to cook!

The beef and mushroom stew recipe site is gone. :unamused:

Try this link: Beef And Mushroom Stew | Metropolitan Market

My cast iron pan on the stove. All delish, especially the tomatoes.

Thank you so much!

Just ran to said Metro Market during lunch to get some groceries. Chanterelles were on sale, $9.99 a pound but the bin was picked through! Will try again tomorrow. That is a good price in my neck of the woods! Cheaper than Costco.

I think your Costco being in/near? the mothership has a greater selection than ours!

Chili on the stove tonight to match the weather !

I made this one tonight, @oldmom4896 ! It looked exactly like yours and it was delicious!

Terres steak, grilled medium rare
Roasted broccoli
Grilled peaches with honey, balsemic and rivesaltes ambre glaze, topped with blue cheese

I made the beef and mushroom stew tonight served with a crust of sourdough, but used the Instant Pot for steps 1-4 (20 minutes on “stew”) to significantly reduce the time to table. It was delicious, and I will make it again, but think I will also add the mushrooms to the IP cook and just finish with the thickener/reduction stovetop for even less effort.

Was there supposed to be a picture and recipe?

The recipe is in post 1247!

I don’t know if the post is a gift link - if it’s not let me know and I’ll gift it

Yum! I think pan-frying the mushrooms first is done to get rid of the excess of water they can bring into the dish if used raw. I’d probably reduce the broth a little or just add more of the thickening flour/butter mix!

@thumper1, Post 1247 has the recipe and 1264 has the photo.

Not cooking (boiling water!), but really yummy. I am a fool for hazelnut flavor.

Today is our 43rd anniversary. We spent the day doing yardwork (can’t get enough of that forest smell), and I made the Balsamic Chicken Thighs with Burst Tomatoes served with a small spinach salad and crisp Chardonnay for dinner. I can always rely on CC for good recipes.

I made the balsamic chicken with burst tomatoes recipe above - I had saved it just before @oldmom4896 posted it!

Let me tell you that sauce is GOOD. Make sure you have lots of sauce! And brown it good on broil.
