Turkey just came out of the oven. We were at relatives for Thanksgiving so came home with just a slice of pie and some of my killer left over sweet potatoes.

We are at our cabin at 5000 ft, and as happened in the past, my turkey is done an hour and a half earlier than the Internet says! Tested the breast and thigh with two different thermometers, and I am at about 165-175. So out he came! Maybe the elevation…I don’t know.
I just had to have my turkey leftovers! I am heading to Las Vegas next week with girlfriends…so DH won’t starve while the cook is gone. I am thinking next Saturday night will be steak night though!

Mexican food out. D1 is home from China and D2 is home from college, both have missed good Mexican food.
Monday we will be back to healthier choices.

Turkey noodle soup is cooling on the stove ready to be put up in single serve plastic containers for the freezer. Yum.

I used a ton of fresh veggies (onions, carrots, celery), but the best invention ever made for soup cooking is a 2-lb bag of frozen mixed veggies…

A small box of tri-color rotini. A whole turkey breast that I saved to dice up for the soup, along with the picked over scraps from simmering the carcass for couple of hours. Went zingy with the seasoning – Emeril’s cajun spice mix. All the stuff you’d put in soup, but probably a little heavier on the cayenne pepper.

For lunch we had 5 guys burgers. For dinner…what else? Turkey Soup…we made ours the same way as interesteddad’s, except for the spiciness. Will give a container to mil and two to the freezer.

Starting with a fresh new meal tomorrow night that has nothing to do with Turkey!

I have some beef short ribs braising in the oven with some baby potatoes.

We moved our TV last night to move some furniture around and after we did that it would not power on at all. It is about 10 years old (tube TV) so I am sure its days were numbered. DD and DH went out to buy a new one while the sales were still on so I am here cooking dinner and doing DD’s laundry before I take her to the airport to go back to school this evening.

Our version of turkey soup is a turkey wild rice soup. I’m looking forward to putting some into the freezer for H and I to pull out after a busy day at work!

Made turkey soup with celery, onion, carrots, parsnip, added cumin and chille spices. Can’t decide on noodles or rice. The barley sounds good too!

^^I’ve seen Bubba burgers in the grocery store, sewhappy, but have no idea what they are.

What are they? How do they taste? Are they worth buying? I try to just stick to real hamburger meat, but I suppose they would be okay in a pinch? Thanks-

^ Well, we always keep some of the reduced fat bubba burgers in the freezer since moving to NJ two years ago. They taste okay. When my kid did the physics for premed at this local U I would make him a bubba burger every day and he’d eat it between lecture and lab. And he said it was okay.

I also like to keep Costco frozen wild salmon burgers in the freezer.

Sometimes when my DH and I have been traveling it’s really good to know we have the bubba burgers and some sort of hamburger bun in the freezer for when we get back.

After turkey on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and turkey soup on Sunday, we threw the leftover turkey and the rest of the turkey soup into the freezer and grilled burgers outside. We might not get many more warm nights.
