Tonight I’m having what I have when dh goes out of town - braised endives wrapped in ham with a cheese sauce. If you only eat one it’s not even high calorie and it’s fairly low carb. I’ll have a big mixed salad with it.

^ Yum !
I am making cream of wild mushroom soups with a salad / with white French dressing and frico chips

Baked cod with pesto, roasted parsnips and salad with warm goat cheese. I try to make fish at least once a week, and per my kids, it has to be something very mild. If it were up to me, we’d be having salmon every week.

Thai green curry with rice tonight :)

I finally tried brussel sprouts with cranberries and almonds yesterday. It did not work for me. My preference is either nothing or feta cheese. Cranberries and almonds I eat together all the time, they are in my car for urgent snacks if needed. And sometime they might serve as lunch if I way too lazy to stop at home to have something else. I eat out on a very rare and special occasions and it better be sushi place.

Split pea soup. It’s in the crock pot right now with the hambone from the spiral ham we had on Christmas eve. It should start smelling good really soon. Since it is 5 degrees outside, it will be very welcome tonight.

Tonight: Oven baked pork chops and my D wants me to try the Panera Mac and Cheese recipe. Will have a couple of veggies on the side.

Vegetarian tortilla soup with home roasted poblanos in the crockpot right now…smells yummy on a rainy day.

Bobak’s cooked bratwurst, the white kind, browned in a non-stick pan, with Trader Joe’s Cuban Style black beans, cooked with added onions sauteed in olive oil, green chilis, and the de-fatted deglazing juices from the pan I fried turkey sausage in, simmered for a few hours. Yum.

red beans and rice—perfect for rainy so cal today

I am a lazy pig. Cold cuts, cheese and good bread from our local Italian bakery.

Zoosermom, I’d be perfectly satisfied with that good bread alone as long as you’re willing to provide a knife and some pure butter!

Thinking about making some home made pasta

Roasted sweet potatoes, portabella mushrooms and onions with grilled sweet Italian turkey sausage.

A truly bizarre mishmosh of leftovers plus a nice french onion soup…and maybe some of the really interesting carrot cake that I discovered at the bakery the other day.

stradmom—our bizarre mishmosh night is always Friday…AKA every-man-for-himself night.

I’m making Thai Chicken – I think
Into the crockpot went coconut milk, lime juice, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, almond butter and rooster sauce with some frozen chicken. The plan is cilantro and chives for garnish served over rice with steamed broccoli.

I’ll let you know how it turns out.

That’s sounds good, agentninetynine. I’m almost embarrassed to admit that we’re having orange chicken from Trader Joes, broccoli and rice.

Lilmom – TJ’s orange chicken is a solid standby in our house, especially on soccer or taekwondo night. And it’s good!

I’ve been away for awhile, but now I’m back
Love this thread! Love the new ideas for food combos.

Someone posted a few pages back re: Cara cara oranges…I LOVE those! LOVE Brussel Sprouts too.

Tonight we had steak marinated in a garlic sesame sauce, sauteed together with Onions, Peppers, Tomatoes and then a Tomato Sauce mixed in (I think it’s called Steak Pizziaola), served with Crash Hot Potatoes, yum.

Tomorrow night Salmon with lots of veggies…

I have some soup recipes I plan to make soon for these cold winter nights. I was at a store today and they were displaying Spring items, yay! We’ve got a long way to go before winter is over, unfortunately
But Spring is coming! :)
