We have our teal pom pom that the Sharks handed out from last weeks playoff game that my husband attended (lucky guy–friend had tix and invited him!)ready to shake!
Let’s hope they can make something happen. Our best friends are Canadian from the Vancouver area (now living in the Bay Area)…so they are having a dilemma…but will be happy with either outcome.

Eager = definition of sore loser.

Sharks are the definition of choke artists. As a sharks fan, watching the first two games made me sick: they are IMHO the better team when both teams are on, but the sharks just dont have any intensity or desire for 40 minutes every game!

I went to bed when it was 5-2 (whomever said that all of these games would be on at 8:00 in the east was wrong, unfortunately). I thought the first period was good, both teams played hard but things fell apart quickly for San Jose in the second. They looked tired and, defensively, they were very disappointing. When Eager started his nonsense, it was pretty obvious the way things were heading.

I haven’t been able to watch any hockey this year cause I’m always working, but I got kick out of CNN this morning reporting on Bieksa’s Gordie Howe hat trick.

I had to chime in as a Detroiter that had the privilege of watching Gordie Howe, albeit in the 60s and 70s. He was an amazing player. I love the picture of Gordie and Wayne Gretzky sitting side by side in their sweaters and Wayne is listening to Gordie like a shoolboy. After the Wings win in Game 6 against the Sharks, Gordie came into the dressing room and said “good game” to Jimmy Howard while Howard was being interviewed. Howard just sat there with his mouth open and had to ask a reporter what he had been talking about.

Truly one of the great players of all time!

I am a big fan of Gordie Howe. One of the biggest thrills of my life was getting to play hockey with him (just for fun of course :).) I think he was around 60 at the time, and he was still amazing on the ice. And what a fun, nice man.

Come on, Sharks, let’s get back in it tonight!

Happy to hear that the NHL will return to Winnipeg. Sad for the Atlanta fans.

is it official about ATL?

jeez, if ATL is the only team moving, how are they going to re-align the divisions?

I recall reading that DET has first dibs on moving to the Eastern Conference, but it will be interesting to see how they line up the divisions now.

It’s a shame. The Thrashers were contributing to a much more competitive SE Division, making my Caps even more fun to watch.

CardinalFang, are you still out celebrating? Wow, what a game. Patrick Marleau was amazing and I hope that, somewhere, Jeremy Roenick is eating his hat.

H and I have tickets for the Bruins/Lightning game 7 tonight…so excited!!!

I would love to see a hockey game. We had minor league hockey here in New Orleans for a while. Great fun! In Biloxi, Mississippi, they also had a team, and we attended some games there. Again, great family fun!

I actually had a chance to take a statement of one of our local minor league hockey players. I timidly asked him for an autograph. For my son. Yea, right!

Since I no longer get to see minor league hockey since the teams have moved away, I get my hockey fix watching Barry Melrose on ESPN Sports Center. I also watch the Astros on FSN Houston, and there is a Fox Sports wrap up show called The Final Score that has a lot of hockey highlights on there.

my-3-sons, I’ll bet you enjoyed the game!

Well, since I’m really old, I will be rooting for the Bruins. I like it when an O6 team has a chance. I probably won’t be able to watch many, if any, of the games, though.

You’re not kidding … there was a great quote from the Lightning coach where he said “the whole game felt like overtime” … and after about 10 minutes of the game I have to agree; it felt like first goal wins and that is what happened. Well I’m clearly in the Bruins camp but it will be pretty cool for Vancouver to finally win if it goes against the Bruins … ironically is has been virtually the same number of years the two teams have gone without winning the cup (I think the Canucks are 1 (or 2) years longer.

I watched the game to find out who my new favorite team would be. Bruins or Lightning, whichever team won I’d be rooting for them.

Go Bruins!

(And I’m still bitter about the incompetent linesman who wrongly called icing at the end of the Sharks-Canucks game. That blown call cost the Sharks the game and the series.)

It was unbelievable, what an atmosphere!!! The noise level for the entire game was deafening and from the time the Bruins scored until the end of the game, not one person sat down. The celebrations in the streets afterwards were crazy. I can’t imagine what it will be like if they win the Cup. There were tons of cops everywhere but the crowd seemed very behaved, just jubilant.

Boy, did I score some major points with H for getting these tickets!

An exciting game, although, as with the Western final, I was disappointed with the outcome. I’ll be cheering for the Canucks (which all you Bruins fans will be happy to hear!), though, because there’s no way I can bring myself to cheer for the Bruins. Other than Thomas, Kaberle, Seidenberg and Seguin, I find the team very unlikable.

I can’t believe that Game 1 isn’t til Wednesday. No wonder the season goes on for so long! A five day wait is so unnecessary.

Forgot to mention the best sign we saw last night.
