Where are my hockey fan friends?

I love it. Go Bruins!

I watched the game the way I used to watch my son’s games - just listening. I was so nervous I could not sit down and watch it. I spent a lot of time pacing! my-3-sons - It must have been so much fun. Your H does owe you big time and I love that sign! GO BRUINS!

[Winnipeg cheers return of NHL - NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs 2011 - CBC Sports](Winnipeg cheers return of NHL | CBC News)

It’s official. The Thrashers will be in Winnipeg to start the 2011/2012 season. I saw the press conference on the news and all downtown businesses let their employees come out to celebrate. Very good news for the Winnipeg fans but sad for Atlanta. My bet is that the season tickets will be sold out very quickly.

Go Canucks Go! Just three more games… :)

Wow, talk about waiting til the last minute! Too many penalties tonight. I hope that changes for game 2. Both teams need to get back to playing good hockey and stop relying on their goalies to save the day, time after time. Go, Canucks, for game 2!

Yeah I know right! I had it all planned out to leave and make it back for overtime.

Was not so fun to watch. I kept thinking “come on already!”

A little tough on the New Englanders tonight. Did he really bit the finger?!!?

Well, Bruin fans, time to get out and cheer your team on tomorrow night. If Vancouver plays like they did in the first and third of last night’s game, Boston is going to have its hands full, especially if Thomas doesn’t stop his wandering ways.

In other news, Winnipeg sold out their season tickets in 10 minutes yesterday. It will be nice for those players to have that kind of support, something they haven’t been able to garner in Atlanta. Of course, they have to live in Winnipeg, though. ;)

Gosh, this makes me homesick for Vancouver. It was great to be able to watch a hockey game again! I hope they do well tomorrow night.

All I can say tonight is what the … was THAT?! Holy cow the Canucks sucked.

Fear the Bear

THAT was a cheap shot that nearly killed Horton. Literally. I am failry sure none of the Canucks want to be seen sightseeing in Boston.
Got the Bruins fired up though. We will see if the NHL has the gumption to hand down the appropriate punishment.

It was a disappointing game in almost every way. It was a totally unnecessary hit and I have no doubt that Rome will be suspended, as he well should be. It made me cringe to watch because it reminded me of the hit on Sidney Crosby in January. Too many players make these kinds of hits without any thought to the possible consequences, and the Bruins aren’t without their own offenders. I hope that Nathan Horton will recover and be able to play again.

If this is the first Rule 48 case that crosses Brendan Shanahan’s desk in his new role as enforcer, Rome will be riding the bench into next season.

Rome is done for the season with a 4 game suspension. Horton will be lucky to play again.
This ugliness is why I don’t follow hockey anymore - hockey used to be a game of finesse; now it’s just a bunch of bullies sliding up and down the ice.
Off my soapbox

Even without Horton, the Bruins now have a psychological edge. Bring on game 4.

Although Shanahan’s name has been mentioned to replace Campbell next season, it isn’t official yet and Mike Murphy is handling disciplinary issues for the finals. As mentioned above, he has suspended Rome for four games which will carry into next season should the finals not go seven games.

That’s why I prefer college hockey. Great games with minimal nonsense.

As a Bruins fan, last night was a mixed bag. Very frightening what happened to Horton. I eventually turned the game off early because of the fighting.

S2 emailed to let me know there was a four-game suspension. He and I have been arguing what constitutes a “dirty hit.” Clearly we differ.

Loved that final score. Go Bs.

What have you people been doing?
