So sorry! That is frustrating for your student and for you.
I think most of us are just ready for this to be over already.

I am a recent (older student) USC Alum c/o 2024 (not for film). I was on 2 waitlists and got off of one so may the odds be in her favor.
Now in the process with my youngest son for film schools.
My son is on the LMU waitlist as well. WL is not a rejection so there is still hope. Where else did she apply?
It’s always good to hear about others making it of waitlists! My daughter applied to George Mason, Emerson, LMU, Chapman, FSU, UNCSA, UCLA and USC.
So far she has been accepted to GM and Emerson with really great honors college scholarships. She was waitlisted at Chapman, FSU and LMU. She is still waiting on results from UNCSA, USC and UCLA.
We’ve more or less decided to suck it up and send S25 to LMU. He’s ridiculously excited about it.
Big congrats! We know some family friends whose son graduated from LMU’s film program two years ago. He’s now a great music video cinematographer amassing over 30 million views with just a couple years in the industry. It’s a great film program with great connections!
Syracuse dropped today so some students may have film decisions and there are two film options as well as the dual Newhouse- Whitman.
Good luck!
We still have six decisions coming for our film student. Ready to be done.
D25 just accepted to UCLA TFT. Also Syracuse. Waiting on USC (my preference) and Columbia University.
Boston University dropped decisions today so some students may have decisions in their portals.
Wesleyan also dropped today.
What pathway is your student interested in (cinematography, directing editing writing etc)?
A big day for film kids. NYU and USC decisions are both out. Northwestern also announced.
Minis is in at all three for film production. We have one decision tomorrow, but we think we have our answer.
D25 got into ucla, usc and nyu film. Extremely proud of her accomplishments but now have to decide. Will be visiting but curious if people have thoughts among the three in terms of strengths. We are oos so cost not a major factor ( don’t know yet if she will receive any merit from any school).
My eldest is at NYU Tisch for film and tv and is a junior this year.
My youngest (accepted to USC NYU Chapman LMU FSU Northwestern etc) is strongly leaning toward USC.
My kids are VERY different. One loves NYC and the other is much more interested in being in LA and wants a small film cohort.
The youngest is taking her time to make sure she understands every nuance of the program before accepting her offer.
I do have concerns about about cohort dynamics and departmental culture at USC but it is ultimately her choice to make.
Feel free to message me about NYU film experience of eldest child.
Anyone out there with a child studying film at Columbia University. Would love to hear thoughts on the actual program; I am well aware of all the sideshow aspects of the university now, but wanted to get a sense of the actual film curriculum, equipment, students and faculty.
Columbia’s undergraduate program is very different than NYU and USC and ULCA.
Have you looked at the (quite small) list of Columbia film courses including the electives? It is heavy on writing - film history and analysis etc.
The courses look very different than USC NYU UCLA and Chapman which offer a lot of specialized film production courses.
Columbia is best know for the graduate film offerings specifically for screenwriting.
I hope someone here can help but if not there is a parent of film production kid Facebook Group too.
Has everyone made their decision for the coming year? Ours decided quickly, and it is nice to be done.
Is she doing USC?
We’re all committed at LMU.
Yes - Ours has accepted the USC offer of admission for film production. She is very excited.
I wish we were done! Chapman (directing emphasis) and Biola are the top two schools. Biola gave plenty of scholarship money. We have appealed for more at Chapman and keeping our fingers crossed as that is his #1. Wish us luck. lol
Fight On!!!
