Where are you?

Close to where I grew up, connections. I’m in Toronto now. Soozievt and I discovered the coincidence years ago,and that her brother lives in the same town where I used to live. I’m actually going to be down there this spring. We should arrange a get-together!

alwaysamom–sorry, I guess I read that too quickly. But we should definitely arrange a get-together! I feel so fortunate to have met many really amazing people through CC.

By the way shacherry, I love your 'The Real Jersey!" Do you mean it as referring to the awful ‘reality’ shows? Or that you’re in North Jersey, which is, after all, the ‘real’ NJ. I live in Fake NJ, aka “South Jersey.” :-)

Louisville, KY :)

connections, I did not realize that you also live in South Jersey, my home area.

alwaysamom, I may go down there in April as my D has a gig in Philly then that I might go see, which allows me to also see family.

To be more specific, I am in Savannah, GA. I grew up in Fairfax, VA so I still kind of consider that “back home!”

Provincetown, Massachusetts. I could visit Marbleheader by boat!

soozievt, if you do come down to Philly to see your D, it would be fun to meet up! I live very close to Philly.

While I grew up in Wisconsin, New Jersey has been my home for most of my adult life (minus 4 years in DC for law school and a judicial clerkship).

New Jersey has to be one of the most diverse states particularly given its relatively small geographic size. New Jersey is at least 6 separate and very different geographical areas --the northeast portion (Bergen county, Essex county, etc.) which is what people generally mean when they say North Jersey, the northwest or skylands region (northern parts of Hunterdon country, Morris, and Warren counties) an area that is much more rural, wooded and hilly, Central Jersey (Someset and Middlesex), an area that has a mix of characteristics of North Jersey and Sklyands region, The Shore area, Delaware Valley (southwest counties within Philly area) and the Pine Barrens area (interrior of southern state that is extensively pine and oak forest).

As for us, we live in the skylands area of NJ.

LOL - Gwen! I have a sister in Sandwich, so I go down quite a bit, but don’t usually go all the way to P-town. But when we do, it is a hoot - what a fun place to live!

Southeast Michigan, for the record.

Yay, ActingDad, you tell’em! Yep, NJ is remarkably diverse.

States like CA and TX have areas that are very different from one another too, of course. But they are so much bigger.

Hurray, I’m seeing more locations listed under people’s member names! If you haven’t added yours, please do. I’m about as paranoid about online security as one can get, but I haven’t been able to think of a peril involved with giving one’s state, city, country, etc.

Pine Barrens girl here! :)

soozievt, I second connection’s invite. A number of us Philadelphia-area CC theater list people met for coffee earlier in the season. Even though some of us were meeting in person for the first time, we felt like old friends.

Yes, it would be a very cool if either Soozievt or Alwaysamom (or better yet, both at the same time!) were here and could get together with some of us Philadelphia-area CC theatre parents.

Agreed with NJTheatreMom & glassharmonica. It’s been such a wonderful experience to meet all these really amazing CC parents.

ActingDad–So true about NJ. A lot of people dont’ realize NJ’s diversity because they see shows like Real Housewives, Jersey Shore & Sopranos, and they get their idea of NJ from that (and from NYC jokes about us!). Another weird thing about NJ is that it is heavily impacted by two major cities outside NJ–in North & Central Jersey, NYC is the big influence. But here in South Jersey, it’s Philly all the way :-)

Another Jersey-ite here! Central according to acting dads description, but by way of Ireland. Although I’ve now lived here longer than there now!

Okay- I just updated my profile. Looks like I’m the only one from here so far on this thread. Although I do know some other people from my area on this board.

It is a fun place to live, Marbleheader-- and one of the few places that elicits a natural “Lol” from people! Maybe we’ll have a chance to visit sometime when you’re out here!
