Who here applied ED?

@Audrey, That’s good to hear! Lol. I seriously cannot sleep. I went to bed around 8 pm because I was so exhausted and I kept dreaming about NYU all night haha. It’s 3:05 am here. Honestly, i’m so exhausted from all this stress and wait. I really hope for the best for everyone no matter what happens.

random question for you all, is it possible to be accepted into NYU but rejected from Tisch? or because i applied to tisch i will automatically be rejected from NYU if i dont get in

no. u will get rejected. its major based

You don’t apply to NYU - you apply to the specific school you want to go to. So if you applied to Tisch and were (god forbid) rejected, then you are rejected from NYU; you cannot be put in another school like CAS or Gallatin etc.

@TAHUNGANH no it’s not major based, but it IS school based. The school you apply to is the only school you will be considered for.

Hi everyone, just a quick
Update I finally got the student news brochure in the mai this morning. I also live in south Florida so I’m not sure if that’s why it is a bit late. Anyone else still bot received it as yet? Thanks and good luck everyone! (pardon my poor grammar and capitalization, I am on my phone!)

I haven’t received it yet :frowning: but I live in Texas…

I would say that since there are no post today about acceptance letters, the non LSP letters that were purported to be received yesterday, was probably an error on NYU’s part. Not saying you were not accepted but things get put out in error on email all the time, you were just lucky.
On the Student news brochure, it is very possible that the people who received them are accepted. The thinking being that the accepted people are in NYU’s system and the admin is waiting to send out the official notices, but the information is in the system and automatically generates the brochure.
Just thoughts.

I feel like the brochure isn’t an indictor of anything. My parents have always said that mail from them during the admittance process never means anything.

You will not believe what just came in the mail for me - my freakin application acknowledgement! How ridiculous! I mean I knew snail mail between continents was slow, but it took OVER A MONTH to reach me! So now I will have to wait a month to see if I get the student brochure hahaha

Columbia sent me a letter asking me if I need financial aid… and I didn’t even apply to Columbia… I think Kelyry is right, mail during the admission process rarely means anything unless you get the “save the date” email, but that’s only for regular decision applicants.

Yeah.
I keep getting letters from Hoftsra saying that I get the preferred app. because I’m such a great student and all that. I never sent them anything. No SAT, no transcript. nothing.

did anyone who applied to CAS get that ‘Discover NYU’s College of Arts and Science’ email? just a’wonderin.

yeah i get those hofstra emails too

@lodovicok - I applied to CAS. No such emails. And just seeing as how I’m freaking out because I haven’t gotten any of the letters or emails that everyone else seems to be getting…I’m gonna post my stats. Let me know what you think. Am I just not even worth their mail? Haha…

SAT I: 2200 (CR760 M740 W700)
AP: English Lang - 5; US History - 5; World History - 4; Spanish Lang - 4
ECs: yearbook all 4 years (editor-in-chief past two years), newspaper past two years (editor-in-chief this year), NHS in 11 & 12, Key Club in 10 & 11, a few other clubs here and there, but those are the big ones.
Community Service - so many different things, but totals to about 425 hours.
Hooks - National Merit Commended Scholar, Hispanic female from Texas
Awards - 30-something statewide awards for journalism
Never taken a non-AP or honors class.
Recs were AMAZING. Our English department chair (who was my English teacher sophomore and junior year) wrote me “the best recommendation letter I’ve ever written.” I read it. I cried.
My essay was pretty beastly, I must say. Everyone who read it cried.
I also felt pretty strong about my supplements.

Applying to CAS as a Journalism major. Thoughts?

WOW totally forgot about GPA haha. 3.9 UW; 5.1 W (Our school weights on a 5.2 scale. Weird, I know.)

n’ah mate you’re stats are far, far better than mine (just judging SAT). I used to live in Texas too before I moved to the uk!

Wow hayleyelisa… those stats are AMAZING. I don’t know why you’r even worried :D

My weighted GPA is 4.35.

Could this make up for my less than amazing SAT/ACT?

Ha so many people have just talked about how NYU is a crapshoot sometimes, so I didn’t know if there was something about my application that was just glaringly horrifying that I was missing. Ha but thanks for the reassurance guys  just 8 more days til we’ll see! And @kelyry I’d say if you weren’t LSPed with a good GPA like that (I don’t know what your SATs are, but if you think it was low then I think LSP would make sense) then I’d say you have a pretty good shot! and @lodovicok that’s crazy…Texas to UK is a pretty big move haha.
