Who's ordering an iPhone 5?

*
My DH will. He loves new technology and it will make him so happy to learn and use all of the new features*

My H is opposite. I originally got our first home computer ( an llsi) 22 yrs ago because he was forced to use a computer at work & he hated it. I optimistically thought that if we had one at home, he would see it as just another sort of tool. Not so much.

He still has a dumb phone & while he would like an iPhone, as he uses his iPod touch everyday & could consolidate, but we agreed that since he works in a factory, won’t use a case ( he is on his third iPod touch - which is actually first gen, the others suffered mortal injuries. The current one also has a cracked screen but at least it still works), that spending the money for an iPhone knowing its likely fate isn’t a great idea.

What is the deal about not using a case?

I don’t like a case on mine as they make them bulky and defeat the idea of it being slim. My original iphone was pretty darn indestructible and used as a projectile on more than one occasion. It was only when I got the i4s that I finally put a case on it because it seemed like it would not take a fall so well. It’s a kate spade so nothing heavy duty. My son has an otterbox for his android and swears by it, but it does add bulk. His takes a lot more abuse then mine though.

Have dumb phones that are up for renewal with Verizon.

Kind of liked the Samsung Galaxy III a bit more than the iPhone4 when I played with each last week. How easy is it to get all my iTunes onto the Galaxy?

S also got an iPhone when I got mine…he balked as well about the bulk once an Otterbox was on- I told him ( known fact- he drops phones, it gets banged on his tennis bag, etc) that we were not leaving the store without a case…he ended up with the Otterbox commuter case- decent coverage, less bulk.

Omg…the new Iphone5 is a phone.

Apparently Samsung put out a program (unclear if it’s a phone app or computer app) that’ll let you sync your phone to your iTunes collection. They claim it only takes five minutes to set everything up.

Pre-orders open September 14 (Friday).

In stores September 21 (following Friday).

BCE is my hero. I’ve been on a plane frantic to know when I can order!

Anyone know how much the iPhone4s is going to be? D and I are thinking of joining this century lol!

BCE, just emailed the dates to my DH! Thanks!

Deb922, at Verizon, the 4’s were $99, if you were eligible for an upgrade, $49. The 4s was $199, $149 if eligible for upgrade - that was 2 weeks ago. The prices may go down further when 5’s come out…don’t know.

New iPod Touch models - like the iPhone only with lower specs.

New iPod Nano - reversion back to a device that does video too. Bigger device too.

Just saw this on Twitter via current news conference:

iPhone 5 will start at $199 on-contract; iPhone 4S at $99, iPhone 4 is free:

MacRumors was live tweeting and reported the price point would be the same $199/$299/$399 for 16/32/64G, 4s will drop to $99, and the i4 will be free.

The new touch is an iphone without the cell and a somewhat worse camera though still 5MP. It has the same form as the iphone 5, with bluetooth, dual band wifi and now Siri. Great device for someone with a lot of wifi coverage. And it comes in colors now. Only issue is it only comes in 32gig and larger so it’s expensive.

I watched the real time blog this afternoon. I think I am going to get one for myself. My colleague is going to sell his 4S on gazelle dot com for 180.

My older daughter was angling for the new iPhone even though her current iPhone was just fine. Then, after 3 1/2 years, she lost it this past weekend! My younger daughter was, “How convenient.” But she can’t wait until the new one comes out so she’s going to get the current new iPhone and when the new one comes out I’ll buy that one and we’ll switch SIM cards and such. Too bad, since my iPhone is the 3G (I think) and the new one is supposed to be smaller (I carry it in my back pocket, I rarely carry a pocketbook) I would have like the new one for myself. Oh well, that’s what motherhood is all about!

Those dates have been known for a short while now; and that is why I mentioned last night that tomorrow was not the day to get too excited.

Rumor has it that they did not want to compete with the USNews unveiling of the Best Colleges 2013 version – which incidentally were released last night to paying customers.

And, yes Harvard and Princeton are still Numero Uno and that New Haven school is third, barely beating the New Apple University of Cupertino by a nose. Well, that is if USNews would count the geniuses, and all the one who pretend to be one!

The iPod Touch goes to dual-core from single-core. That will make a big difference in performance.

What the heck is LTE?
