I feel like my ability to write, debate, and understand some standardized testing have gone up recently. Is it me or just the little boost from CC?

I believe it is due to the presence of me.

That’s a good question.
Perhaps it’s due to an increase in motivation, and the incentive you’ve put in front of you (college.)
I feel the same way, when I go on a college tour, talk with others, or think about my future it really pushes me.

Bump…

Surrounding oneself with motivated individuals tends to be contagious.

Lol, I like that metaphor.

Ah, I doubt it’s you.
It must be the ragingly intense atmosphere of focus, cleverness, and procrastination…although I fail to see how surrounding oneself with procrastinating individuals works positive effects. :o

Some actually thrive off procrastination because of the associated stress. Even at times when I am not proactive, I do produce some of my best work under substantial time pressure.

I’m far from being a genius…

Everybody is smart in their own way, there are many different types of intelligence.

CC tend to attract more of the hard-working variety than the true geniuses, typically.

i almost always do better when i work under intense pressure. i find myself putting more effort into my work, instead of just skimping like i do when i don’t have a lot of motivation.

The internet taught me how to write. Probably why my English teacher hates me, that.

ur welcome

omg OP, that’s the same thing I noticed with my social ability!

CC stressed me out freshman and sophomore years–I was in a cycle of procrastination that was compounded by excessive college research (which I used to procrastinate). But now that I’ve got a grip on everything, CC is awesome for putting things in the perspective of the high achieving (versus people at my school who are just like “Oh, you can do whatever you want, you’re smart.”).

CC usually attracts far more hard working students than actual geniuses.

^ CC in general maybe but HSL? A lot of work has been not done or done poorly because of this board… I’ve been now been on CC for a year (today is my CC-versary if you will) and the number of hours spent on these boards is probably quite staggering…

I am not a genius.

I’ve had my share of grades that I wasn’t happy about. After sophomore year, I’m working as hard as I can, yessirrrrr. :P
