Aid packages have been coming out
Do you know where to find them? I donāt think that my daughter received any emails about them. Are these packages for just returning students or first time students or both?
Iām not sure. Iām assuming in their student portal somewhere. Iāve just seen others posting about getting their packages. Not sure who is getting them.
It doesnāt seem like we got anything yet. Just shows the full price of attendance, which was always there.
Hi all - my son was admitted but he really wants to pursue a business degree. He did not get a direct admit into the business school. The other 4 schools heās considering all accepted him to the business program. Can anyone shed light on the process at W&M? Sounds like he wouldnāt even be able to apply until sophomore year. Then if he didnāt get in heād⦠what⦠have to transfer to another school? Sounds really risky
You do apply to the business school. The earliest admit is for the spring of sophomore year. My son will be applying this fall for a possible spring admit. You can apply again if you donāt get in the first time you apply. Itās not a highly difficult admit, but you do need to keep about a 3.5 and make sure all of your prerequisites are completed.
Iād recommend talking to the business school admissions team. I have friends with kids who were not admitted to the business school at first, but were able to take classes and then were admitted later. There seems to be more than one path.
Just received our financial aid package. Have your kids check their emails for directions in accessing it.
we didnāt get any financial aid infoā¦
Approximately 5,800 students were offered admission to the Class of 2028 from a pool of 17,787 ā an overall admission rate of 33%. Since 2020, the university has experienced a 25% increase in total applications.
For the third consecutive year, William & Mary saw a record number of Early Decision applicants, with a total of 1,586 applications for both rounds of the process. Early Decision notifications were sent to applicants in December and January, and Regular Decision notifications were sent out on March 22. The Class of 2028 is expected to include about 1,650 students when it starts at the university in fall 2024.
This yearās group of admitted students is diverse and academically accomplished, boasting an SAT middle 50th percentile of 1430-1530 and an ACT middle 50th percentile of 33-35. Additionally, among those with a class rank, 90% were in the top 10% of their classes. William & Mary continues to offer a standardized test-optional process, and 30% of admitted students applied without standardized test scores this year.

Hopefully you will get it soon. Maybe they are just rolling out.
Wow - I did not realize that the SAT range was so high (I wonder if it increased since last year). I wonder what the acceptance rate was between in-state and OOS.
Stats have gone up. Last years class middle SAT was 1370-1510, ACT 32-34. 75% were the top 10%. Though I think these stats are for the enrolled class, not the admitted students.
I found the news release from last year. āThe group is academically talented, boasting a middle 50% SAT score range of 1410-1530 and middle 50% ACT score range of 33-35. For students from schools providing a class rank, 87% ranked in the top 10% of their class.ā
Regarding off-campus apartments - are any of them walkable to campus? Does the school provide any kind of shuttle service. Ideally, I would like my child to live on campus all 4 years, but it seems that with the housing shortage that might not be a possibility. Also, what are the apartment complexes that are popular with students? Do these complexes do roommate matching? Or do you need to go in with your group of friends?
Pretty much all off-campus housing is either walkable or next to a bus stop. The school doesnāt run bus routes itself, but instead has a partnership with the city where students ride free on all Williamsburg bus routes.
Iād say the most popular ones are Current Midtown, Lawson, Sterling Manor, Midlands, and New Town (itās a whole planned community, but it has a number of townhouses, apartments, SFHs for rent). A massive number of students also live in houses surrounding the campus.
Midtown is largest and closest (12 min walk, 5 min bus ride), and also the only one that provides roommate matching.
My daughter has been happy in Midtown, though almost all of her classes are on the far end of campus from the apartment. Itās a little inconvenient in heavy rain but the walking is good for her. When possible she crafts a schedule that allows her to have several classes back-to-back, or she finds study places on campus in-between classes to eliminate a lot of back-and-forth. I imagine there are many large universities where dorm distances present more of a logistical challenge than this.
She might be aware of this already, but thereās a bus that runs directly from Midtown to the far side of campus every half hour on days class is in session. Might make her life a little easier on rainy days.
Just curious - what did everyone think of DFAS (if you attended today)?
I thought it was pretty good. High-energy in the morning. (I got a high 5 from the griffin when we were walking into Kaplan.) Probably the most helpful part for my son was visiting the clubs participating in the Sunken Garden lunch, he got a lot out of talking with some of the students there. Otherwise it was mostly confirming our previous impressions but adding some helpful detail. It comes across as a supportive community.
