I thought that it was amazing and I really like the swag bags that they gave us (much better than other admitted student days that we have been to). I agree - everyone was so welcoming and supportive.
I was a little jealous when I saw the clear bags you got this year! We got the basic totes last year. My son worked at the club fair and said it was lots of fun.
For those who were waitlisted, when you go to the W&M Application Status Portal, is there any way to tell that you have accepted a spot on the waitlist? My sonâs page is still exactly the same as it was when he got his decision. He has filled out the Waitlist Response Form many times, but there is never any indication that the form was successfully received, or that he is officially on the waitlist.
He did get a response from his admissions counselor to the LOCI he sent after regular decisions came out, so he feels like he must be on the list and all is well.
For fellow waitlisted students, does your status page show that you accepted a spot on the waitlist?
Tell your son that he and his fellow students did an amazing job! I think the overwhelming consensus is that DFAS was a huge success. On a side note - even the stickers were nicer than what other schools gave out.
Any idea if Green & Gold Days will have the same rah-rah atmosphere and opportunities to talk with fellow admitted students? My kid could not attend as it was the only day we could go to UVA DOTL and we are relieved that she has one day to visit W&M.
Iâve been to both. Green and Gold will be an overview and a shorter day. Not the same atmosphere as DFAS
We still have some stickers around. I found the website for the sticker designer. She has more you can order.
Here is the schedule. Students get to go to lunch together. Schedule | William & Mary.
Thanks. Itâs hard to get a real sense I guess. Too bad we had to choose for the one Saturday she was free the entire spring! Thanks again!
I think she needs to reach out regarding Monroe since the only reception or session was on Saturday. Hopefully they can talk with her.
I thought the same and we hit that "submitâ button many times to accept a place on the waitlist. It never really cleared the little modal window to acknowledge the selection. For giggles, I then logged in via different browser, and I saw a green banner displaying the election has been acknowledged. I believe it was better via the Chrome browser than where it wasnât as apparent in MS Edge (or maybe the other way around! By now I forget). But if the admissions counselor already acknowledged LOCI, youâre good. Good luck!
Thanks, @tobinjp ! S24 uses Chrome, so we tried Safari and had the same issue. Oh, wellâitâs nice to hear that he isnât the only one!
I have two that went/go to W&M. One paid the deposit at DFAS. It was a GREAT day and definitely sealed the deal for us. The other was an ED admit and already had (obviously) decided and DFAS was STILL great. W&M does a fantastic job. We went to the Green and Gold days with the first and actually met with a professor (scheduled ahead of time) about what a major would look like if he wanted to go into a certain field. She ended up being his advisor all the way through. I reminded her (after graduation) of her kindness and influence on him before he was even a student!
One thing that I forgot to ask at DFAS is about the construction. I did notice a lot of construction near the Kaplan Arena. I know that the school prides itself on the small class sizes, but is W&M trying to expand and become a bigger school (with possibly larger classes in the future)? If so, I wonder if the expansion might be related to trying to improve in the rankings? Also, I wonder if the construction is related to expansion or just renovation? I think was just in such awe of everything at DFAS that I totally forgot to ask about the construction.
The construction across from Kaplan is new dorm and dining spaces. Over on New Campus, they are working on the art museum expansion and the science center expansion. Not increasing the size of the school.
Just wanted to drop in with a quick vignette, for those of you still on the fence.
Last week I visited W&M with my class-of-2025 twins (and wife) for a campus tour. One of them is really interested in environmental biology, and found an interesting class happening the morning of our (afternoon) tour. She reached out to the professor to ask if she might be able to sit in on the class, and he warmly welcomed her to join it. (The other three of us just bopped around campus for a bit and got lunch.)
After the class ended, he said âI have to run over to the lab; want to go take a look before your tour?â She jumped at the chance, of course ⌠but it gets better, and more âWilliam & Maryâ: he had to swing by his office first, and realized that she hadnât had lunch yet, and was probably getting hungry. So he heated up some leftover Thai food he had in the office fridge. (Iâm pretty sure he gave her HIS OWN LUNCHâ˝â˝) They then headed over to the lab, where he showed her how he collects data in his research. It was fascinating and she absolutely loved it.
I have my own stories (from back when I was at W&M) about professors going out of their way to support me, but Iâm so glad that she now has one of her own ⌠and she hasnât even applied yet!
A new dorm where an old one was torn down.
We donât see anything either
Does anyone know when they plan to start taking people off the waitlist?
