Does W&M give out merit scholarships at the time of decision, or are they all given out prior?
the only merit scholarships are the 1693 and Monroe Scholars who have already been identified. There is also the WM Scholars for diverse students. Not sure when those are announced.

Not an admin but a 2x W&M mom. My kids both emailed their W&M admission counselor with updates and received personal emails back saying that the information had been added to their files.

She did a LOCI that shs sent to her admissons officer and they said that. But she also said that if she had any other updates that she should load it into the portal. So I did not want her to be annoying and ping admissions after she uploaded these updates.
DS is waiting on RD. He has had some additional athletic achievements (state and national level) but nothing big academically. Should he upload them to the portal or email the rep? I bet he would be shy about sharing. Would they care if itās not academic?
Has he communicated with coaches and is able to walk on if accepted?
On one hand I think WM likes demonstration of interest, on another, since its late in the process it might be good to have an update in the pocket in case of a WL situation.
Yes he has communicated with the coaches and has walk on times. WM is notorious in our sport for the coaches not responding to potential candidates. Yes, he has other acceptances and either walk on plans or club plans at other schools.
Someone (D24s essay coach) just told me that RD is out in 4 days. Can anyone confirm?

She wrote back and rephrased.
My apologies - I ran a search and saw late March and the 15th. The 15th is the College of Education.
It will be by the end of this month. Their phrasing indicates that the responses are going out in batches, so some students likely will hear this week with the others wrapping up at the end of the month.

In the past, they released all RD on the same day. So I wouldnāt expect it over more than one weekend.

Is anyone able to register for the admitted student day prior to receiving an official acceptance? I received a cypher postcard, but donāt have access to register. Does the day fill up quick?
You will be able to sign up after your official notification. It shouldnāt be a problem to get a spot. Itās a really great day. We went last year. My son found his roommate at the lunch.

My daughter received a Cypher postcard but no email about Monroeā¦are those all awarded? I would have thought her stats fit Monroe.

I note percentage wise, fewer people are offered Monroe than get a Cypher, and some people are offered Monroe without getting a Cypher, so it is definitely not unusual to get the Cypher but not Monroe.
And my understanding is it is not just stat basedāthat is part of it, but again apparently it is not at all unusual for very highly qualified applicants to not be offered Monroe. So I think this is likely one of those things where it is always going to be obscure exactly how they made the decisions.

Anyone know from a decent source when Regular Decision will be announced?
Based on past years, I would say 3/22. If not then, the next Friday.
The next Friday 3/29 is Good Friday of Easter Week. Letās hope itās not then.
