You’re right, berurah!! 77 pages doesn’t even come close to what the original Duke Lax thread had…:D

I loved the scene with Melfi–not what I was expecting, but good. After what happened on Sunday I’m now expecting it to end with just about everyone dying!! Tragic, but there will certainly be closure!

I don’t think David Chase is one for giving us closure. According to some people, last Sunday’s episode was originally going to be the last one, and I think it would have been a great way to end things and true to the spirit of the series. Unsatisfying, perhaps, but real.

I had to watch Sunday’s episode twice–and then I still missed some of the nuances everyone is talking about in this thread! The point about Sil and Ade both “reaching” is especially good. David Chase is amazing. He’s tying up a lot of loose ends as the last episode approaches. I liked the final cameo appearances of certain characters: the Buccos and their usual fawning-over-Tony-and-Carm behavior, Rosalie reminding us of the trip to Paris (with that weird photo), and especially Dr. Melfi, finally showing T the door (but do you think she’ll be back in the last episode?).

We’re out of town this weekend, returning halfway through the final episode. Does anyone know how fast the episodes go up on Comcast on Demand? We’ve all vowed not to turn on the TV to watch just half of it.

If something happens to the rest of the family, it will pay off with AJ. For sure.

That theme of picking up the mantle of the father (or not) has run through the entire 7 years… Does depression run with the blood? Does toughness? Is the mob “family” a meritocracy, or is it whose cousin you are? How do I manage to raise little yuppies if I am a mobster? Then when they do grow up, do I even want them to be yuppies or do I want them to be like me? Think of the irony of Meadow now veering towards law school to fight crime!

Maybe Carm or Meadow will get axed (or even just threatened) and AJ will witness it and he’ll have to pick up a gun and become a Tony…? Or maybe when push comes to shove he’s NOT a Tony? To me that thread is the one that needs tying the most. Tony is irredeemable-- but what about AJ?

K, last night, the Shield season finally, love that show

Nd I think no matter how amazing the Soprano’s ending is, it will jst not be enough, its needs a Godfather like amount of time to wrap it all up

“To me that thread is the one that needs tying the most. Tony is irredeemable-- but what about AJ?”

Maybe I’m alone on this, but I find the AJ thread to be annoying. I was actually hoping that he wasn’t stupid enough to have too long of a rope connected to the concrete block.

Yeah I agree AJ is annoying but he’s thematically important. Tony tried to make something different out of his kids… did he succeed? AJ is imploding. AJ is the canary in the Soprano coal mine. IMO. Is AJ a washout as a yuppie AND as a gangster? Probably. Which means Tony is a washout as both kinds of dad. Anyway I’m just placing my bet that AJ is going to be important in the finale, whether as unlikely hero, tragic figure, or chum.

Agreed, SBmom – I just wonder to what extent Tony CARES about AJ. I mean, deeply. My thought is that at some point Tony, deep down, realized AJ is a washout and it seems AJ’s demise, if meant to be a tragic punishment for Tony a la Godfather III, wouldn’t be terribly convincing.

“Maybe I’m alone on this, but I find the AJ thread to be annoying. I was actually hoping that he wasn’t stupid enough to have too long of a rope connected to the concrete block.”
You are not alone.

My DH thinks AJ will be the one to OFF Tony next week. I don’t know about you but I have a suspicious feeling about the Pizza delivery coming to the safe house…
WAH I don’t want it to be over!

Any other predictions? How will it all end?!?

My opinion: disappointing, but maybe just because I like final episodes to have at least an elimate of closure. I also think the plot twist of Phil’s henchmen flipping on him was quite contrived.

I wonder how many people went scrambling for their remote controls thinking that something happened to the TV like I did.

I loved it. David Chase would never give us closure.

Meadow is going to be Carm and AJ is going to be Tony. Meadow, Miss “poverty law, help the immigrants” will go to work in Patrick Parisi’s law firm, putting money over her principles. AJ, in his new BMW, is happy at last…it’s a straight shot from there to his owning a club like the Bing. The family lives on, even if Tony gets indicted and goes to jail.
