Celeste Amarilla, Paraguayan senator, posted racist attacks on X after Paraguay lost 1-0 to France in the 2026 World Cup round of 16.
She called Mbappé a “colonised Cameroonian, desperately trying to pass himself off as French,” a “brute who had not learned to write,” and claimed “instead of breast milk, he sucked on coconuts” while “the most educated creatures he ever listened to were chimpanzees.”
She also called him resentful, arrogant, ugly, and suggested Paraguayan players should have slapped him.
The Paraguayan government condemned the racist statement.
Mbappe’s reply (translated) - being nice to the Paraguayan players who sometimes played rough but scathing for the racist senator. (BTW Mbappe has been under fire by the National Rallye party because he denounces racism - they very much believe an athlete should not have positions on racism or anything.)
