a cap is an appearance for the national team. so having 120 caps means you’ve played in 120 games for the national team.

USA V GHANA is on…and no early goal. Waiting to see how the cards will drop…midfielders not aggressive at all.

Bruce Arena…not looking too confident to me.
Eddie Lewis cut…

2-1 for ghana… ewww

Landon who? What a stinky session. No show by the boys. Ghana looked like warriors…I applaud them. They play like Brazil. Game will be good.

yey the US is out !!!

Even though I support the US, that game Ghana had against Czech…they deserve to move on. Now all I need is Australia to win and I get $20

All that useless hype. At least now they will stop constantly talking about the “energetic”, “best form ever” US team when others are playing.

I supported the U.S. but that was a terrible show. I thought they would come back strong and play well like the second half in the Italy game but they were basically dead.

I concur…all the rhetoric and poor showing. Ghana looked so good and their joy in victory was pure. Onward w/o the diatribe about Landon, the now show man.

you have to admit you guys saw it coming though. All the hype and stuff…all the sports anchors saying how good Donovan was…how a lot of the US players now play on European teams…

Id be celebrating if I were Ghana too…they have an extra 40k in each of their pockets now, haha

Bruce Arena has taken the Americans as far as he can take them. It’s time for a new coach to take over the national team.

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t too confident in the USA team after that showing against Jamaica a couple of months back. It looks like I was correct.

Second that nathan. Time for new coaching. I thought Arena sounded whiney in post game interviews.

I think Arena will lose his job because he lost the coach’s critical eye of certain players that have played well in the past cup. However, four years have passed. Beasley should have been a reserve, donovan should have never been upfront. Reyna should have retired or been a reserve. O’Brien was not fit and thus a wasted roster spot. Pope was done two knee injuries ago. Most of Arena’s core group of players hosed him this time around. His fault for allowing it to happen.

Dempsey was the best American, Convey, Lewis worked hard. Outside backs, little guys with long names did well. McBride never got the ball where he could finish enough. Eddie Johnson should have played more.

The big young central defender is just a fouling machine, very limited skills outside of grab and hold. Beasley should have played himself off future teams.

The only positive from this experience is the dissapointment. If people didn’t care, that would be the real step back for US soccer.

Let’s hope some new faces get the oportunity over the next 3 years to step up. I wouldn’t mind keeping Arena in charge, I just like him to not be as loyal to past performance as he was this time. That’s what cost him. National Team should be “what can you do now for me” not what you did last time.

I like Damarcus Beasley alot…the first game was just a strategic error for the most part, not putting him on the left side. Arena didn’t start him against Italy…but when he came in he played well, closest attempt to a goal in my opinion.

McBride is aight…Cherundolo is pretty good too. I think Landon Donovan is a touch overrated…and we need a veteran like Reyna to provide leadership. And I like Onyewo for the sole reason that I want to see him get mad and merk someone.

Brazil 0-1 Japan WoW

Socceroos tied with Croatia 1:1 42minutes

nevermind Brazil tied

DB didn’t play as he has in the past. I understand he rarely left the bench this year for his dutch team. It does look like someone has changed his game… for the worse. BD game is attacking from the flanks and I don’t recall anymore than one or two times in any match. Too tenative, a REALLY unprofessional first touch on the ball. Speed is no good if you can’t handle the ball. Basically all the aspects of his play that he brought out in 02, weren’t present in 06. Either he changed his game or somebody else did.

Onyewo can’t get away with that style of play at this level. If he can’t adjust and have less grabbing and holding, he’ll just be a walking Yellow for persistant infringement.

That said, the PK called on him was total BS, but did his style of play (grab& hold, foul) influence the ref on that one? Did the ref assume the foul because it had been occurring previously? Still not a good call where it was at.

Beasly started about half and played in most of the PSV games…I dont see as much of a control problem as I do with his judgement. In all aspects though, PSV probably changed his game to fit him more into the way they want him for their club

cmon ROOS

yeahhhh who cares if he weighs like 100kg… ronaldo is ronaldo! ahahahah

All I have to say about the Aussie/Croatia game is “what in the hell?”
