Worst Dressed: When Ugly AND Expensive Meet

You’d think for $16,000 your mons pubis didn’t show. Maybe that’s extra.

Ok, so here’s a good example of poor tailoring and poor color choice. The pepto-bismol pink really fights with her orange-ish glasses and her olive skin tone.

The pants are too long, and too tight on the waist, giving her a muffin top when she didn’t really have one.

The sleeves are way too long-the entire thing is cut for a model’s frame and Lori is just swimming in this. If she had done this in a black, a navy, or even a deep green, not worn glasses, and had it tailored to fit her just right it could have been a really sharp outfit. Her stylist should be slapped for shoving her into something that does nothing for her.

Yeah, here it is on a model: http://www.ashtonmichael.com/ss2016.html The color works on her way better, and it’s tailored right.

Wow, some of those are real doozies!

Sorry, even on the model, it isn’t something I would admire, but yes, it does look significantly better. Emma Stone looks much cooler, IMHO.

Yeah, @HImom , I don’t love that designer either, but you can see what I’m saying about fit and color choice being 90% of the issue. It doesn’t matter how expensive it is if it doesn’t fit you right. My MIL spent a ton of money on a MOB dress and didn’t get it tailored, and didn’t wear the right undergarments for it.

I privately wanted to cry when I saw her in it because it could have been smashing, but instead it was just…not…flattering. I wish she had checked with me first because I know how to sew (but would have recommended a tailor because that’s way too high stakes to make a mistake on) and I would have shown her the difference a good pair of Spanx can make. I was not privy to either the brides or the MOB’s dress decision or the whole fun of shopping and picking, and I got snarky comments on my dress (I asked them what colors were ok), so it was just a bummer all around from my point of view (the bride, my SIL, looked amazing).

One thing on my bucket list is to get onto Project Runway

Is it just me, or does Ivana Trump’s dress look like a giant pudendum?

Another for your consideration:

@GMTplus7 when I click on that link I get an article titled “Why Men Don’t Wear Wedding Rings” (which was actually very amusing).

@jym626 I liked the cut of the dress but the color choices really chopped up the lines of the girl. If the model looks thick around the middle, I shudder to think what a normal person would look like in this dress. I wonder what the designer’s original sketch looked like-the real life translation is not friendly to a woman’s form at all.

I want to say: That is the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen.

The problem is, I want to say that with everything that’s posted on this thread.

Apparently, Gicci marketing figured out that there are old cat ladies among the .01%-ers and targeted their wallets. Miaou!

Saw this beauty on display at the local Nordstrom and had to find a pic to post.

That Isa Arfen is god awful. Looks like something a vampy yodeler would wear in the Swiss Alps. Really I do wonder if anyone really purchases these items or they are just whimsical creations for “fun.”

@MotherOfDragons

Yes, that’s the correct NYT article I wanted to link. Scroll down the article to the photo of Ivana Trump and The Donald. She’s wearing a black-n-white dress.

LOL, wow, because that cat would look better on a background of pink and black stripes? I hope that when I’m old and batty someone will take away my clothes!

@mathmom then you’d be naked, old and batty :).

Here is one for you, MOfD! That is a dragon, right? Gucci went out of their way to make sure their creations will sweep ugly sweater contests among the rich and stupid!

@BunsenBurner I confess I totally dig that sweater  I’d pay about $100 bux, tops, for it, though.

Older D asked me if I could make the dragon dress that Taylor Swift wore a few years ago:

I was like, nope, can’t sew haute couture level dresses, kid, sorry. My advice was to send TS a twitter message and ask to borrow it for prom, since they’re about the same size and height  No luck so far…

And the gems just keep rolling in!

Only $290. It is a steal.

That Cavalli dress is gorgeous! No comparison with the ugly Gucci sweater.

What are we playing in that playsuit? Strip poker? Lose ASAP? It looks like a giant doily.

The tiger sweater could almost be cool, but the dagger in the back is too much.

I love the Cavalli dress.

“The tiger sweater could almost be cool, but the dagger in the back is too much.”

That - and the $1,200 price tag! Lol.
