The designers are trying to outdo each other in the most outrageous way of recycling old jeans contest. I am going to take a pair of old jeans, make a hole in the butt for the head to stick through, and use pant legs as sleeves. Voila, denim ass-jacket! 
I actually like that spiky metallic backpack. It’s pretty cool and funky. At $85 isn’t cheap but not outrageously expensive like most items on this thread. But I was a teenager during the punk years and listened to the Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, etc.
Where I live it would probably be considered a weapon and refused admittance to the school. Even if the spikes are fabric. They are sharp, and as my grandmother would say “could put your eye out”.
Goodness. So could a pencil, and the last time I checked those were still allowed in school.
I remember when my daughter was in HS she had a good friend who was very much an old soul at heart. He got a antique pocket watch for Christmas, but he couldn’t wear it to school because having it on a chain in his pocket violated the “no chains” rule.
