Wow, Harry and Meghan!

I believe Sarah Ferguson was on front row of side opposite of the royals, but on side of choir nearest the nave. It was sweet that Eugenie’s fiancee met her at the door and escorted her to her seat so she didn’t have to navigate alone.

Prince Phillip had said that he would never be in the same room as her again. I was glad that she was at the wedding. I am now looking forward to Eugenie’s wedding. I am sure that it won’t be televised to the extent that this one was, but I am glad that she is happy.

Did anyone notice that almost none of the royal family watched while Harry said his vows? I thought that was very interesting.

Loved that all TV channels we normally watch were showing the wedding recap instead of their regular programming s-show.

@MommaJ, I’ve watched Say Yes to the Dress on occasion, too, and I consider most of the dresses on that show horrible and unflattering. I was wondering this morning if Meghan’s dress would have any influence over the wishes of Kleinfeld’s customers. They often say that they want to look like a princess, meaning to them a dress with a huge skirt and way too much in the way of embellishments. The Pnina dresses are particularly awful.

I loved her dress, and my 28 y/o D found it classic, timeless, and understated in a beautiful way. The bateau neckline and 3/4 length sleeve were very flattering, in my opinion, and the creasing in the satin did not distract at all…again, to my eye. I thought the Mulroney boys did an admirable (and quite adorable - the gap-toothed smile!) job corralling that train and I doubt she cared that it was not laid evenly out behind her. Not that I have any way of knowing, but from all that has been written, it seems as if their (and all the children’s) participation was more important than a slightly skewed veil. Loved the second dress, too. And that car…

Props to Beatrice and Eugenie for pulling off better looks this time.

Circling back to the beard discussion, a good example of how a great beard can make the man is James Middleton. His beard really transforms him in a good way, IMO.

Nobody has commented on what surprised me most: the couple said their vows as Harry and Meghan rather than Henry (Harry’s real name) and Rachel Meghan (her real name.)

"I was wondering this morning if Meghan’s dress would have any influence over the wishes of Kleinfeld’s customers. They often say that they want to look like a princess, meaning to them a dress with a huge skirt and way too much in the way of embellishments. "

I think things won’t change for those who fall in the “more is more” camp.

I was also struck by how beautifully Meghan stood and walked and how graceful every motion was.

I’m a little curious as to how this evening reception is working. How did they pare it down from 600 to 200?

Agree about the dresses on Say Yes… most are truly horrid.

Meghan didn’t need more make up and her hair was lovely, imo. She looked natural and I daresay, 30 years from now she won’t be saying, “what was I thinking!”

I haven’t yet seen the second dress but I will go take a look. I loved her dress, very simple and very elegant. The tiara and the veil were outstanding. There is a history of the tiara on the Vanity Fair site as well as the veil and what the embellishments on the veil represent.
They looked so happy. Loved the adorable Mulroney boys and Princess Charlotte.
The Queen looks elegant and I also really liked Meghan’s mother’s ensemble. Hard to pick it up on TV but in the photos on the Vanity Fair site you can see the subtle embellishment on the bottom of the code. Great color and great hat. I loved Amal Clooney, Carrie Mulligan and the awesome purple dress from Lady Spencer that matched her husband’s tie perfectly. One of the other Spencer women had an awesome green dress with handpainted flowers.
The cellist was outstanding and what about the gospel choir… how cool was that. Perfect weather, a perfect day for a lovely event. How special that Harry picked forget me nots from Kensington Palace gardens for bouquet, Diana’s favorite flower.

Minimal makeup? I love that you could see her freckles, but c’mon, have a look at her eyes. That’s not minimal makeup. That’s skilled makeup.

Both dresses side by side.

I guess I’m in the minority, but I was not a fan of the dress - the idea, yes, but not the execution. I liked Kate’s dress better - to each her own.

Loved the gospel choir, and Amal’s dress, and all the children. What a beautiful day!

She keeps dog biscuits in it!

She also uses it as a signal to her assistants. When she switches it from arm to arm, it means she needs to be rescued or that it is time to leave.

I notices the Harry/Meghan thing too. Guess when they go casual, they go casual.

I loved the dress, but I found myself worrying that the veil was getting snagged as it went up and then down the stone stairway. It was said that there were unique hand embroidered images on the edges of the veil with each representing the various areas of the UK.

How they get from 600 to 200 is the dump all the people Prince Charles doesn’t like. NO Fergie. No Pippa (not that Charles doesn’t like her, just that she’s not a relative of the bride or groom). I think it is mostly Harry’s relatives (and there sure are a lot of those) and a few friends. I wonder if the Spencers were invited? They aren’t friends of Charles.

I would imagine it is more family and friends of the wedding couple, less about Charles although I’m sure his friends are in attendance as well.
