And to be fussy, sorry, but I don’t think you’re supposed to wear open-toe type shoes to a formal wedding.
Look, I feel comfy saying that because I loved it all and add me to the teary eyed. And I wasn’t invited, so had no decision to make, lol.
Earlier, the minister did say Harry’s full, formal name and “Rachel Meghan.”
I liked seeing the Beckhams, btw. Friend lived next to their London home and said he’s amazingly approachable, kicks a ball with all the kids on the block, in the back alley, etc.
I heard the commentators slam Victoria Beckham for no smile more than once. Could it be Botox?
I flipped over to CNN this afternoon and they were interviewing a young woman and her mom who were there related to a charity that comforted survivors of the Manchester shooting. This teenager had lost her sister in that shooting and she said that she and her mom had made a bathroom trip and were coming back to their spot when they spotted David Beckham. The mom asked for a pic with the daughter. Security was shooing them away, but evidently he pulled them over and said take the picture anyway. They went on and on about how nice he was.
@“Cardinal Fang” she was wearing a lot of eye makeup, but with her strong coloring it looks OK. I often think that Kate wears too much black eyeliner, which looks harsh against her fair skin. I thought that Meghan looked natural because you could see not only freckles, but various other minor blemishes that would have been covered with foundation.
Did anyone see how the mothers (including Kate) got to their seats? They came in with the children, were waiting in the entrance to the church and then they were suddenly in their seats. Did they just walk up the aisle right before the bride?
Re post 369 - I’m an entitled to my opinion as much as anyone. Of course she had on makeup, I’m just not a fan on a day when two countries are riveted, to make sure you’re all pulled together, including your hair and the creases in your multi hundred thousand dollar dress. I get it, she’s 36 and a second time bride, I was just a tad disappointed in the dress.
My preference between the styles of the two is Kate. She exudes class and elegance. Meghan is gorgeous and looked beautiful and she and Harry seem very much in love which is very sweet and a breath of fresh air today.
Meghan wore Diana’s aquamarine ring to the evening reception. She said in a letter she wanted her jewelry allocated to her sons, to be given to their future wives!
While all of the descendants of the Queen’s original corgi are now dead, and she has stopped breeding dogs, she still has at least 3 dogs. 2 of them, Vulcan and Candy are dorgis, a cross between a corgi and a dachshund. The third, Whisper is a corgi, but she adopted him when his original master died. That corgi, however, is not a descendent of the original corgi, Susan.
Late to the party here - I went back to bed after the wedding and slept another 4 hours! Getting to sleep tonight should be interesting.
I loved the wedding, loved everything! They are so adorable and happy with each other and her Mom is so sweet. It seemed a bit poignant seeing her sitting there alone, but I’m sure she’s fine.
Someone along the processional route had a sign that said, “I married a ginger too”, lol. I wonder if they are offering a warning…
I liked the simplicity of her dress and hair but both seemed to be a bit sloppy in tailoring. I heard the dress was silk, but it looked like ill-fitting gabardine on TV, especially when she was sitting down. And her hair had stray wisps even in the back under the veil (great veil and tiara though). Mainly, I can’t believe how courageous she was to put that veil in the tender hands of two 8 year old boys! I wonder what shape it’s in now. She seemed to get stuck a couple of times while taking a turn.
Her reception dress is beautiful and simple too, but again, lacks a bit of tailoring in the upper half. Does it have to be baggy?
There was a story about how the dogs ‘took to’ Meghan the first time she met the Queen, which was just last fall. And that the Queen gave Meghan’s dogs a ride to the wedding.
I watched my recording earlier today and talking about George and Amal Clooney, who was that older woman in the yellow dress and hat who kept turning around and talking to them as they walked along? I think at one point George politely tried to usher her forward but she kept on trying to engage them. They clearly understood they were on show and tried to proceed per celebrity camera protocol but she would not let them alone. I think at one point the yellow woman was almost walking backwards.
I believe she isn’t going to have any more given her age — she doesn’t want to leave them to someone else when she passes away.
