Wrong course selection- anything I can do mid-semester?

I’m a freshman this fall, and as an international student had no APs. I was hence assigned to the first course in Calculus… and while I did not think too much about it in the first two weeks (add/drop period), it’s now mid semester, and aaargh, I have done all this math in school. Not only that, I’m also good at math, so I know the material well, and the stuff in class is just too simple.
Of course, this also means I can’t take any higher level math courses till next year due to prerequisites, and as I’m a math major, this is hellishly annoying.
Is there anything I can do at this point except die of boredom this semester?

Congratulations. You’re not overwhelmed in your first semester in college. I suggest you relax and enjoy this “easy transition”. Math gets much harder very quickly, so you won’t always feel that getting an A is this easy.

Meanwhile, help others who are struggling. But why can’t you take Calc II next semester? Usually, it follows right after Calc I.

ETA: At the same time, be mindful that some kids are not breezing through it as easily as you.

Die of boredom because it is too late at this point to do anything but drop the class with a W. That does not look great on your transcript.

Take the easy A, although it is a waste of your money and intellect. But you do not have much choice. The positive is, it will be good for your overall gpa.

Be a tutor and make some money and get a line on your resume!

Oh, well.
Yeah, I can take Calc II next semester. If I’d taken it this semseter, my next year would have been less overwhelming (2-3 math courses per sem).

Don’t worry about it, it won’t matter in the long run. Do the work to get that easy A. And, being new to this country, use your time to learn more about it.
