Yale Class of 2029 Official RD Thread

AFAIK, international admissions are conducted by alumni who live in that region. There is no further segregation by country of origin. Because of potential shortages of volunteer alumni in some international zones, some interviews may be conducted remotely with either alums or someone from the AO.

Last year I was asked to do an interview in early March, but I think that is an exception and it is definitely good news if you get one that late. You are most likely on some bubble. That applicant was accepted.

Hi

Is Yale still interviewing RD applicants? Thank you.

I believe the ā€œnormalā€ requests have been assigned. Whether the area coordinator or the assigned alum has timely sent out an interview request is a separate issue. There are occasionally last minute interviews because the Committee feels like it lacks some information.

My son just received an email for Yale interview to schedule next week. Isnt this late in the game?

Yale has recently increased the number of people they’re taking by 100. These late interviews might be related to that decision.

No interview yet - international student. Feeling very scared lol

Anyone else get an email from a financial aid officer asking to submit more forms?

Nope. That’s usually a good sign. Did you get an interview?

No I didn’t that’s why I’m confused. I got an email on March 5th with a Yale ID saying I had missing fin aid stuff (even though I’m pretty sure my checklist was all green before) and then a couple of hours later an assistant director of financial aid reached out to me asking me what she specifically wanted me to submit. I’m a little lost with the whole thing, our email chain was 16 messages and it drained me!

That sounds like a positive sign to me. Good luck! Keep us posted.

Are you domestic or international? Stats? If you’re a strong candidate, then I guess your chance just went up  Good luck.

I’m a domestic student. I don’t really know how strong I am because I didn’t get an interview, but for some context I got accepted to UVA’s echols program and they said only the top 5% of the admitted students are given that designation so I would say I’m decently competitive?

Also I do have a few Yale related stuff on my application including YYGS, Matriculate (founded at Yale), and my CBO Counselor is a current senior at Yale. Who Knows :woman_shrugging:

Awesome. I think with your strong qualifications and the request(s) for more info from the FA officer, your chances are definitely better than someone without any communication from Yale or an interview (like our S25 ) Good luck!

Thanks! Good Luck to your son too, wherever he chooses to go!

Something similar here… CA resident + Citizen, no interview, but I was accepted early to Berkeley to interview for their Regents scholarship. (top 1-2% of all applicants). I did update my app to say I was in India due to a family emergency, and submitted another update saying I was back about a week ago. But I heard the lasts set of interviews might still be coming out. For reference, no Harvard/Stanford interviews, but I did get Duke.

I also had issues with FinAid, as my SSID had me listed as a permanent resident, not a citizen (Got citizenship over Covid and never updated until now). However, pls keep in mind that FinAid and UG Admissions operate separately from each other for most schools, so might mean something and might not. Either way, best of luck, and I am sure you will do great!

Interesting, Did you also receive an email from a fin aid counselor? I have yet to hear of anyone else with a similar experience that I had.

I’ll go on a limb and say that if you get an email from FA asking for more docs this late in the game, it’s a very good sign. By this time, the FA office would’ve received the list of applicants who are getting accepted or most likely to get accepted, and they need to prepare the FA package that goes out the same day or the day after the decision day. Good luck!

Haha, I’m sure it’s just a routine process becqause the admissions office and financial aid office work independently, but I appreciate your enthusiasm  I just received the same email from cornell asking for more info.

I did, but it was first a general email saying that there were issues, and when I emailed them back about it, I talked to an FA officer. They said to upload my passport photo and added it for me. But no, I was not emailed directly by an officer. Sounds like you got lucky!

  1. Submitted ROTC Applicant Questionnaire
  2. Recorded submission & portal shows this:
