Yale dorm room decorations?

Hey guys, I am starting to think of a bunch of stuff to bring with me to Yale to decorate my dorm room with (I have my own room) and was wondering what the best things are to bring? What decorations do you have in your dorm and what are some necessities that I will need for my room? For now I am thinking of a bunch of posters of the stuff I like and some personal items, but what else should I bring? Thanks!

This is not really unique to Yale. I think it’s worth it to bring some brightly colored items (lamp, storage, posters if allowed), and something to hang up photos from home so that it will feel intimate. I’m also bringing some dry erase surfaced items to keep track of my schedule.

If you google “Yale Cribs” and look at the videos, you’ll see what other student’s have done with their dorm rooms.

I don’t know for sure, but I’m assuming that Yale, like most colleges allow vinyl wall decals. They’re like posters, but I love that they’re more like paint and more permanent. They’re normally solid colors so they are usually for generic decor more than the individual style that posters bring. Just be careful removing them if you get them!

Students are responsible for damage to walls, ceilings and doors. Damages will be charged to student accounts.

Students who damage furniture, furnishings, or their rooms will be billed for the costs of repairs, repainting or replacement. If responsibility for damaged or missing furniture and furnishings is unclear, all occupants of the suite will be charged equally for the costs of replacements and/or repairs.

If memory serves correctly, I believe the cost of repair Is $100 per wall. So, I would not recommend vinyl wall decals if they tend take paint off the walls when removed improperly.

Thanks for the great responses! I really appreciate them! Your vinyl idea kind of reminds me of Fat Heads, the large logo decals you can get of your favorite team, and I think that’s actually a really good idea. Do you think that’s an appropriate thing to put up in my dorm room? I don’t think they cause any damage because they are easily removable.
