@mustardpurple omg… ok no wonder this is called anxiety thread. i am in the same boat as you, high 70 and submitted on 27th march but i didnt win any spectacular awards or anything (some school initiatives here and there but not much) and im really scared
seeing as you got the interview already (super happy for u :)) but dbvkuhsdbfjkv djkqvhbfjqehfkhefbqw yup ok just popping by lmao. not much to ask just need to get this out , ALL THE BEST to all interviewees nonetheless
@applicant208209 hello! actually m not sure but saw on reddit that ppl were still receiving 3 days ago! don’t lose hope just yet, since interviews r given 2-4 weeks after the deadline (27march) !! don’t worry too much :•) for now just relax and ride thru the waves man haha. i panicked a lil too cuz I submitted a month before the deadline (and people who submitted on the deadline itself received interviews earlier than me!). but if it comes it comes. will update here if I hear anything abt ppl receiving interviews :>
@yalenushopeful mine was kinda bad haha have a lot of regrets n felt that THERES things that I should have said, but it’s over. how was yours? :0
anyway m glad for this anxiety thread where we all bond in fear HAHA
DID ANYONE ELSE NOT DO SAT OR ACT BECAUSE OF CORONA VIRUS???
@lizzibirb ahh dont be too discouraged!! i used to think they’d immediately eliminate people who scored less than 80rp HAHA but yea like godwillnway said, they’re still giving invites 3 days ago, maybe urs will come soon :")
Do you guys have any tips on how to ace the Yale NUS interview?
@r3freshingg hi I had my interview a few days back.
tips:
the interview is an informal interview but it’s still an interview, don’t be too lost in the fun of it that u say anything disrespectful.
when talking about your school don’t say anything negative about it, they are looking for someone who can respect the institution they attend so don’t badmouth your current school
be the same person as your application. if they liked your application they’ll like you . my interviewer asked me what my friends are surprised about ( which is a question in quick takes ). she was clearly checking if I was the person in the application and wrote it honestly. DONT TRY TO BE DIFFERENT.
since the interview for ync is different, it is a conversation type of interview. so remember to ask back questions during the interview. if they ask oh how are you coping with the virus, answer then ask them back the question. they want to make sure you can hold a conversation both sides.
lastly, do NOT send them an email after the interview. I sent one after and got back an email saying it is not appropriate to continue to contact the interviewer as it may pose as an unfair advantage.
and remember, show how charismatic and charming you are, don’t forget to smile!
OMG! @mustardpurple THANK u so much for ur consolation! They got back to me with an interview invite today :)) update for everyone who was wondering if they were still getting invites, HANG ON! dont get too down by it
hi @soupsnakes , was stalking the thread and saw that u really nicely offered to answer questions. Could i ask if u did an online interview? not sure how different its going to be compared to a face to face one !! and any helpful advice / experience for interviews?
@lizzibirb aww yay!! im happy for you :-)) good luck for your interview! mine’s tomorrow and i’m starting to get really nervous HAHAH
@lizzibirb congratsss!! are you an international applicant as well? :))
hey guys!! I’m so glad I found this thread where we can be nervous tgt :’) I just did my interview a few days ago, so nervous and the wait is torturous… @ first round admits: do you feel your admission was based more on the interview or the application submitted(i.e. your stats, extracurriculars, essays)?
@lizzibirb hiiii did you email them and ask about the interview invite??
hi guys, how did your interviews go? also, do u have any idea when the application result will come out?
hello!! i’m @mustardpurple but i lost my account email so i made a new one HAHAHA but anyways i don’t know how it went :-// i tried to be as honest and genuine as i can so I’ll just cross my fingers and hope for the best. if any applicants want any tips, i agree with everyone’s tip to read through your application beforehand, be ready to discuss about your essays/ECs, think about what you went through the past few years and of course why ync!
@yalenushopeful before the extension, the set date was 1 may but now on the website they stated that decisions will be out early may so i’m guessing it’s around the first week?
interestingggg… anyways who did u guys get for interviewer… if u dont want to share here, send me a inbox and notify me here
@zappyhappy dude i feel u 100% :•( welp. btw i think interviewers take notes down n passes it to the AO and AO makes the decision. so idk man, hopefully it’s equally weighted cuz i bombed my interview :(((
@godswillnway we’d never know how we did because there’s a chance they perceive our interviews differently from the way we do. hoping for the best!! I do hope its equally weighted too - I didn’t elaborate on many things I mentioned in my app, which I felt are parts that form my character
God’s will & way dude
Anyways I’m really curious to find out how the intl students will fly in, how classes will be conducted for the class of 2021-2024 etc considering covid-19 is basically disrupting everything
If I do get in, I am really looking forward to getting a full experience out of the residential college life, but I’m looking forward more to covid-19 ending for millions around the world
