Me as well. It says it’s down for all early action applicants.
I listened to these before she applied. They were very informative and enjoyable. Gave a good feel for the personalities behind the scenes of admissions.
How good/bad would a deferral from Yale be
Given the lower percentage of deferrals in recent years (20% last year) and higher rejections (70%) Yale admits 709 early action applicants, matches 72 QuestBridge finalists | Yale News, if these percentages hold for 2024, it means your application is competitive, but you should reset your focus on other schools, especially safety and matches. Treat an acceptance after a deferral as an unexpected bonus.
Yale has shifted to a practice of not deferring too many SCEA applicants.
So, being deferred rather than rejected is good in that it means Yale thought you were among the more competitive SCEA applicants they saw.
Of course that doesn’t mean Yale specifically will admit you. Most times it won’t, although some times it will.
But I do think it is a sign you have a generally competitive application, and so very likely some good colleges will admit you, assuming you apply to a suitable list.
Edit: same basic message as another poster. I would just suggest it is certainly possible to get deferred at Yale and then admitted at other highly selective “reach” colleges. In fact I like to tell the story of S24’s friend who was deferred at Yale and then offered a Morehead-Cain scholarship! Of course that kid was eventually accepted at Yale RD. Just pointing out you can be extremely competitive and still get deferred by Yale.
But to be fair, my own S24 was deferred and he was then rejected RD. He was, however, accepted RD to colleges like WashU (where he is going), Haverford, Carleton, Vassar, got the postcard and Monroe scholarship at William & Mary, and so on. So, also still quite competitive, albeit not as competitive as his friend.
Anyone able to access this form? Is it unreasonable to expect that this is a sign of anything? https://apps.admissions.yale.edu/register/admittedstudentdiscord2025
No.
Are you able to access it?
Nope
I doubt anyone would be able to log in before the decisions are out. T minus 28hours
I can log into the system. But all admissions checklist has disappeared and the texts - “Discord Verification Form 2025 - This form is only available to admitted students” comes up.
This is the screen everyone gets that I’ve seen so far, we can log in but can’t access the form
Interestingly, my admissions checklist has come back.
The financial aid checklist??
wait where did you get this form from? when i log into my portal, it just shows the admissions checklist (everything is still on there) but my FA checklist is disabled
Found it on Reddit, r/yale megathread
When I checked link posted by @inkby1, the same Discord message appeared, but when I checked the portal link my child had from Yale, same with previous status- portal was deactivated blah blah. I’m not sure why this happened.
I think we all are seeing the same message. I guess that Yale has made it so that nothing can predict the outcome this year, possibly in response to the rampant portal astrology that included SID last year.
Getting an interview is not a mixed signal. Although admissions says an interview is not necessary to be admitted, It is very unlikely to be admitted without an interview (at least in my region) so I would take an interview as a good sign that you are competitive. Even so, the majority of those interviewed will not be admitted. As a long time interviewer I would emphasize not applying to so many reaches and instead identify solid safeties where you would be happy attending. Good luck to all those waiting.

Feel like an interview is unequivocally a good sign (if minor) but a lack of one does have a chance of being a good sign (if very small, I’d agree with the above).
