thats weird…so basically the only way you would know if your region came out is if you won?

so if you loss you would be left wondering till possibly april then realize that it definitely already came out and you didnt win? xD

Yep! That is how most competitions are like I just have never been on this side of it though…

^That was the same way I was notified.
I know this was discussed earlier, but what do you guys think they are looking for (other than what’s on the website)? I noticed that they favored my more teen-centric work over what I considered my more mature work (that didn’t necessarily focus on teenagers). Anyone else have similar experience?

YES! Exactly!! I was like “***! These seem way little kiddy or somthing you would find out of a chick soup book!!”

Just found this information about region-at-large:

“These regional award recipients will be notified by mail and will receive Gold Key lapel pins and certificates of recognition by April 2010. Gold Key artworks advance to national adjudication. Artists who receive national recognition will be notified in late-April 2010.”

This was 2010, but I’m assuming its about the same for 2011. So if you’re in RAL and you haven’t heard don’t worry :)

Has anyone heard about awards for New Hampshire in writing?

I thought it was March. April is one month more to wait than March ._.

@glassesarechic: I found this link that might be helpful for you if you’re still wondering about North Carolina. They seem to only have the art awards listed, but they might know about writing, I’m not sure what you entered in but best of luck!

[Barton Art Galleries](http://www.barton.edu/galleries/2011ScholasticAwards/2011_GoldKey/2011GoldKeyWinners_TextOnly.htm)

Still waiting to hear something in CA :-/

^Thanks, a few of my art friends heard today. I imagine writing came out as well, but I’m not sure since I don’t know anyone else entered. Alas.

Still waiting for a reply from California too (for writing). Still keeping my fingers crossed.

Hopefully it goes better for you then it did for me :/

augh, the wait for California is killing me! I’ve been checking my email inbox complusively… it’s not healthy. good luck to everyone :)

Just want to put this out there before I say anything: I never enterd and I’ve never heard of this competition in my life until very recently.

This girl who I’m friends with on FB won a Gold Key for her photography and she posted her work on Facebook. I saw them and … I’m very unimpressed. There was only one photograph I liked out of 8 and they all had the same “theme” I guess you could call it. The whole focus on one thing, make the rest all blurred and unfocused idea. I’m obviously not a professional, but they were very boring :|

I know its like they only take novice things!!! I was reading some of there journalism gold key winners and they all broke SO MANY rules I’m like W T FREAKING FREAK!

What rules did they break? I’m not familiar with this competition, but right now I’m looking at the website and looking at the 2010 works at the gallery (: Hmmm I wish I knew about this contest earlier ):

the silence of the lambs one was good, but you could hardly call it journalism… what other works were available? that was the only one i thought

So I was just reading over some of the posts here, and I was shocked: my region’s deadline was in November. I wish I’d had 'til January to work on my portfolio!
But we’ve already gotten back info here about regional winners and such like…

Anyone else terribly anxious for April?

I’m anxious about March, god damn region at large.
And I’m guessing that you won in your region then Bybee? Congrats if so!

Aw, what category did you enter in?

Hang in there! We’ll both make it - I’m sure. :D

RAL is lame… it’s amazing I live right next to seattle and there’s no regional affiliate?! I know cream rises to the top but damn… just because of where I live huh
