2011 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards

I just got an email from Scholastic with a link to their website, saying that the gold key RAL is out…I RECEIVED 2 GOLD KEYSSSSS…yayayayayayayayaayayyayaayayayaayayayayayayayyyayay i am happy beyond belief…i received one for my portfolio and my other for a poetry collection…check your email if you submitrted to WRAL!!!

it was only writing region at large, btw, not art

Because of this thread I’ve been super paranoid about if I won an award or not since I wasn’t sure when they would be letting us know if we won or not…or if they already did and I just didn’t win anything.

I called Missouri’s region and the nice lady told me that we should know either tomorrow or Monday. I’m hoping for a gold key!!!

I entered in RAL Art. Has anyone won a gold key yet. I imagine that writing would come up a lot faster than art.

did writing ral for nj come out yet?

yea…I think it was only Region-At-Large…
I submitted 3 single submissions and 2 portfolios.
I got a Gold Key for one of my singles =D
If your in that region you should have got an e-mail but if not here a link to the pdf
Good Luck everyone…whooo

Yeah, it’s official, WRAL gold keys are out! Check your email…if you got an email, I’m pretty sure it means you got a gold key. Of course, I didn’t get an email (they suck at communication) and I still won some gold keys…so it’s worth checking the website to see.

Congrats to everyone who’s won a gold key so far, hope to see you all in New York if we all get lucky :P

Gold key for my portfolio… *** *** ***.
This is god damn amazing.

aaaaaa I won a gold key for my poetry collection! I’m so happy! I submitted one other short story, too, but I threw that in only because I wanted to see how the website worked haha

So, no one has gotten a gold key for Art yet? Right (RAL)

Congrats to you all!!!
Did any of you guys do the novel this year??

Yeah, results only came out for writing.
And the novel RAL deadline is February 25 so results won’t be out yet.

yah i’m only wondering who here applied?

I’ve actualy read one of the winning books before and it was GOOD!

I’m totally going for the novel category. But I haven’t even started writing it yet (though I have a solid idea in mind). The novel has to be a finished piece of work right? Or is it just an excerpt from a novel.

you only submit a certain portion (when I did it 2 years ago it was 10 to 50 pages) along with an outline of the rest of the novel. It’s good to have it finished.

The art RAL results are out, too. I got a gold key

GOLD KEY BABY!!! Journalism piece I skipped school to write the day it was due. **** YEAH

This has been a great week… elected Key Club officer tuesday, won 2nd in area for DECA wednesday, and gold key today!

By the way, did anyone get notified? All I got was an email that told me that RAL results were up, no congratulatory mail, email, anything

Congratulations Seahawks! That’s awesome!

meh… I don’t find out whether I’m gold or silver key for another week, at least.

The novel, I think, just needs five chapters submitted. They’ll only read the first five if you send any more.

Congrats, everyone! I’m feeling a bit nervous because one individual poem apparently won a gold key (lol) and the other didn’t seem to get anything. Do both get forwarded to nats, or just the winning one? Because don’t they disqualify single-poem entries?

****!!! When was the novel due!?
